Sometimes automakers make decisions that is kind blowing to save 25 cents.

so the frame is totally different on the h3 compared to Colorado,
Why not add coils that is actually cheaper than leaf design?
makes no sense,

same question goes why they didn’t make the h2 interior from better materials considering it was more expensive than the Cadillac at that time.

Non of those original H2 buyers would complain it the MSRP was 1000 bucks more
They spent 25 grand on sound system right off the dealers show room 🤣

My truck is one of them
TV screens all over and amplifies under the back seats 🤮

But the good thing is that those bling bling dudes never abused there hummers off road.
So all those bling bling Hummers out there are road driven and ready to be unleashed.

You really are a walking encyclopedia for H2 ❤️
I appreciate all your knowledge,

I know every single bolt and nut on the H1/ HUMVEE platform
I own 9 of them currently and over 20 for the last 23 years.
I have rebuild them from frame up.

To your point about noticeable power loss from 35 to 37,
That’s what I am kinda scared to do.

Even on the H1 platform going from aluminum rims to factory 12 bolt steel rims makes a huge difference.

I am looking for a place to permanently mount the air compressor, so far no luck.
Does your truck have factory air suspension? Mine did and I’ve disabled it - that location, behind the rear bumper in my opinion is perfect for a compressor. If you don’t have factory air I can take a picture looking up at the air suspension plate for an idea.

You run a lot of weight - I don’t know how much travel you do, what your average highway speeds are, but 4.88s and 37s would probably feel like an entirely different truck and give you new appreciation. You’re out west so I know you guys have 80MPH roads and running ~2,700 RPM might be uncomfortable going 90MPH but in every other situation it will be a huge improvement.

For reference - with those smaller KO2s (35.6in diameter) with 4.56 gearing I ran about 2,450RPM at 80MPH. It rarely downshifted, I had enough power in 4th to pull most ENC hills.

I have a couple low volume vehicles including a manual SS sedan and old 4x4 IH pickup - and I’m struggling with getting an H3T.

I want a H3T Alpha triple locked, but parts beyond the driver door and back are hard as hell to find - either you got into the platform when it was brand new and have all the sweet accessories and don’t mind the rare parts or you’re taking a big leap to get into it.

No new beds have been produced since production ended - if you get hit you’re FUBAR. If you want the original dealer accessories you’re paying double the cost brand new (if not more) good luck finding a snug top, and if you do the original quality was so poor it probably needs repairs.

5,600 trucks produced, 56 of them manuals, 2,450 with V8.
My buddy said his is one of 600 something Alpha trucks made,

I love the looks and its capabilities.

The 08-09 interior is light years better (except for seat comfyness) but similar to the H3T those trucks are even more rare.

I do a lot of long distance travel, this last trip was 1200 miles
And another one this weekend 500 miles,

I like to be gentle on the vehicle,
75 is the sweet spot for me for H2.
H1 car barley move it’s ass let alone hit 75 🤣

I have factory coil suspension on mine.

Her husband said you gotta be kidding me right.

Duramax/Allison F-T-W.
The entire platform of the H1 was designed for slow follow behind Tanks.
160 hp does a perfect job for the military convoy speed and battlefield.

Unfortunately anything over 350 hp ithis is needed for civilian life is opening can of warms.

Yes LBZ is the best option
Anything over STOCK LBZ Duramax Power band and things start to break.

I just programmed myself to accept that it’s a slow vehicle and like any old school SUV it has to stay in the slow lane going up hills on in general.

The benefit of pe 96 H1 or all Humvee models is that all you need is 3 wires to start and drive
And any fuel you can get your hand on 😍

Duramax or 96 and up H1 can’t do that

I don’t actually know how much you can see of the pump but I’ll grab a picture - you might be able to fabricate a new mount or find a dead pump assembly for cheap to strip and replace with a good air pump.

37s make a huge difference in my opinion.

Alongside the weight you’re running you would do well with 4.88s at your speeds, your fuel economy would be stellar at 60-70MPH power would be phenomenal on and off road and fuel economy would probably the same at 80-90MPH as the stock 4.10 setup with 37s just with way more power.

You would think I own a gear company as much as I’m pushing it 🤣

I think I am getting 6 to 8 Mpg off road

So last trip to grand canyon I filled up all the way, 9 miles from the trail,
I finished the trail with 1 gallon left
323 plus 9 miles to the gas station at the end of the trip.
All off road miles,

There are several write ups online to swap in 6 speeds - it’s actually not super hard, but realize the H3 was near a refresh when was discontinued so I’m sure it was next in line for that change. Similarly the H2 had an update shortly before being discontinued and would have likely got the planned 4.5L Duramax and long bed.

The 4L60 wasn’t * that bad* on the smaller H3, my buddy just rebuilt his for the first time with 280k miles.

Have you seen the YouTube Channel Three if by Land? That family must have spent enough on their H3 to buy 2 or 3 new overland rigs. They seem to have had nothing but issues with the swap.

Full disclosure, I have no personal experience with Hummers, just what I see searching around. Now if you want to talk Defenders..

Well, Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.. And the H2 does carry almost 10 gallons more fuel stock (32 gallons I think), but it is a considerably larger vehicle so easier to package that larger tank.

Grenadier and 4 runner both have good Longer Ranger Aux tank options, though they are expensive..

Cause it was mostly guys with gold chains and their shirts unbuttoned to the belly button that bought them and drove them primarily just to get attention (hey Look at Me)

With those early 2000's bling rims that kept spinning even when you were stopped. Those farts right there
