the yellow rover does look nice -- If he is going maybe I will go too. It will be nice to know such an extremely nice guy in a capable vehicle will be there to pull me out!

hehe, ganging up on me I see. LOL

I no longer have the yellow Disco, so forget the recovery.

some of our hummer guys in southern calif, during toys for tots drive, driving to marine base in camp pendelton san digeo

It's crazy all the years I did fundraisers and other activities at Camp Pendelton, and owned a Hummer, and yet never crossed paths.

Why did you get rid of the disco? Is it still on it's side on a trail where a bunch of hummers took you and said "you can make that -- you probably won't roll"?

What's the vehicle of choice now?

TXH3T. how was the feeling of being at 40 side ways? i never done that, but buddy of ours tested his H1 in germany at the test place, it was at 45 and tires were still touching the ground with 4 inch lift.
AM GENERAL advertised H1 can go all day long AT 40 but it can take up to 50 side ways
it takes balls to do this in a real world haha
1 800 REAL4X4 = H1
i will be lucky if my rover can handle 30

The proving grounds has this twisty thing that does about 43deg...Jeeps were doing it, including my old one. I dont know if I have a picture of my jeep on it...but here is picture I do have on my flickr

Granted this isnt on a pass or whatever...but a 43deg tilt while moving can make you a little uneasy

I could be wrong, but I think the AM General test track's side slope is at 40% not 40 degrees to give an example of the published 40% side-slope/60% incline spec for all their trucks. If it was at/over 40 deg that is impressive! On trails I usually see people standing on bumpers to keep most vehicles from rolling way before 40 degrees. I get nervous past 35!

What was impressive about the test that Eric posted showing the hummer on the side lift was that the truck had 42" tires and a 3 to 4 inch body lift (6+ inches over stock) and made it to 43 deg before the uphill rear tire started to lift.

Here is another picture of the test track:
