They would be kind of neat. From what I understand they do bring down the temperature in the engine compartment quite a bit, but on the other hand you hear more engine noise. I'd say lower temps is worth the extra noise. I wonder if a guy could even make some sort of fiber glass cover to go over the top of those too, it doesn't seem like it would be too hard. But how might that affect the engine temperatures? I suppose it would still be lower because of the louvers, but only a degree or two difference with or without the fiber glass cover. And actually if you live up in the norther regions, having little cowls or what ever they are that redirect the rising hear from the louvers back towards your windshield might help supplement your defroster.

Geez, I'm starting to ramble aimlessly.

I've heard that they do a GREAT job helping to defrost frozen windows...BTW.
