Thanks for sharing the details of this build. That was a ton of fab work. How many hours do you think you put in to your flatbed?

certainly some hours wrapped up in it… though I didnt keep track. If I had to estimate, likely 50-60 or so for all labor, and another 6-10 just for concept, design, and materials selection.

Happy to share. So long as I can find the time to do so.

Perhaps some year Ill finally (re)post all of the Idacamper custom camper build. That would likely take 30+ pages of posts to do it right ?

this is going to be really helpful as I move forward with my build. I’m hoping I can find an aluminum fabricator who can make some custom mounts similar to what you built for your truck.

they look like they make aligning and attaching your camper so much easier.

A few years ago we were hip deep in new house construction...
Needed a rear rack for long stuff, so that was fabbed up. 4 bolts hold it down.
And having on-site living that is easily removed from the truck is a huge bonus in many ways.

And a couple of the weld in bushing setup, and the rear pivot assembly as an example.
As I recall these were sold as link bushings. Complete with zerk fittings, they worked as intended.

As I recall, the ones I used allow the use 9/16 fine thread grade-8 bolts.

And true to the nature of a proper flatbed, its all about utility...

And what I commonly refer to as the "old man steps" are awfully handy ;)

This build is terrific. Thanks for all the info.

Do you have a link for the donor ladder on these steps?
