If they brought the Jimny over to the states, would you pick one up?

These little fourbies are awesome.....live front axle too and coils all around.....some people that modify them here in Australia fit the bigger 1.6 engine from the auzuki vitara into them aswell as hilux diffs front and rear for more strength, gearing options and wider track.

I would rock a new Jimny for sure. Ever since Suzuki pulled the line from the US in 1995 I've followed it's development. I really think that this is the right time for Suzuki to reintroduce it to the US market. This, along with the new Swift, would do wonders for Suzuki in the low MPG small car market.
Will they do it? Probably not.

We've got them in the UK and they're getting a lot more popular as off roaders now the early ones are so cheap.

We have one as the Wife's daily driver - it gets chucked round RTV trials and is standard just on A/T tyresand will shame bigger stuff grip wise just lacks ground clearance

God, I nearly got one of the first off the boat in Australia 12 years ago! Was about to sign a purchase contract when the dealer actually ROLLED what was going to be MY truck. After that I got cold feet and am still kicking my self 12 years later. I had already started looking into mods for it, ironically an internal rollcage was high on the list!

They tend to be sniffed at a bit in the uk, by owners of more established offroad vehicles..

However - its good enough for Rob Gray as a second vehicle to Wothahellizat, it replaced his landcruiser. Here's a link to the conversion that he did to his Jimny as an expo vehicle in its own right, with power, water, the lot: some great ideas built in to it and a shelter going on:

http://www.robgray.com/graynomad/issues/issue_052/index.php

He managed to fit in:
Recovery gear
Tirfor winch
Steel cable
30m plasma extension cable
Equalizing strap
Tree protector
Bow shackles
Snatch block
Tools
Small tool kit
Electric rattle gun
Air line for compressor
Extension air line
Wheel chocks
Folding shovel
Scissor jack
Bottle jack
Jacking plate
Puncture repair kit
Power
60w solar panel
Regulator
100AH 12v deep cycle battery
300w inverter
Amp and Volt panel meters
12v outlets
240v outlet
60-litre water tank
30-litre Waeco drawer fridge
Camping gear
2-man tent
Rear shelter canopy
2 x self-inflating mattresses
2 x folding chairs
Table
Bag of clothes
Bedding
Towels
Cooking
1-burner cook top
5 x spare gas bottles
Crockery/cutlery/pans etc
Food for a week or so
Misc
2 x pairs of walking boots
Fire extinguisher
Fold out table between seats at the front
Fold out table at the rear
Tie-down loops to secure top loads
Collapsible bucket
Collapsible bowl
Garbage bags
Rope
And there's still plenty of room on top of the unit for shopping, backpacks, jerry cans, gas bottles etc according to the needs of the day.

I admit - I take it a bit more seriously now!
