and LAUGH at how much better it is then ANY jeep ever made.

My God...be objective. You can do anything you want to an 80-series (or any other large vehicle) and it'll NEVER keep up with a SWB, small, and lighter Wrangler.

Size...laws of physics matter...don't forget that. :)

I would bash the crap out of my XJ but over a period of time it just got really worn, the dash and interior started to fall apart and it squeeked and squeeled all the time, not to mention every time I hit bumps or pot holes I swear another bolt or nut would show up on the floorboard..also the build quality between the 2 vehicles is widely different.. 230k on my landcruiser and it still runs pretty good with no vibes or anything sounding loose, well other than my rear view mirrors...

Exactly, and why I own two Cruisers. IF Jeep could make a heavy-duty and long-lasting and reliable JK Unlimited Rubicon I'd dump my 80 in a heartbeat and grab the Jeep to wheel.

MAN...6" long arm lift...37's...doors off...crap, what a great ride that would be! I don't think this one is even built that big. Looks like 4.5" and 35's:

One word: WINTER! You live in Colorado. I'd take the Land Crusier just for simple year round driveablity...and heated seats :)

The LC's can easily be made capable for trail use, but it will never be as capable as the Jeep without massive, road use decreasing modifications. I love my Jeep, but my less capable LR3 required me to be a better driver, and accomplishing certain trails in the LR3 was a lot more satisfying. There is a point of diminishing returns when you build up a Jeep that can do just about anything, things can get to be a bit routine. Working your way through a good trail is more fun that cruising through it, IMHO.

Go see Slee, give $$$$, be :sombrero: Keep the LC!!

^^^YES^^^

I owned an '05 Rubi that was lifted with BFG MTs and had a winch etc. I think the LJ is as said earlier, the pinnacle of Rubi evolution. The four door JKs look good on paper (and in pics!), but my wife wanted one and we went for a test drive. I drove it about 4 blocks and pulled over to let her drive. I hated it for the lack of torque and crappy ride. She didn't like it either and bought the Tiguan... If the 2 door LJ works for you then great. Unless I win the lotto and can get an AEV Hemi JK I will stick with my 80 series. Actually, if I win the lotto I will keep both, and Christo will get the 80 dropped at his door for a total rebuild so I can keep it for ever.

If you really want the offroad ability, maybe sell your 100 and buy a clean 80 and have Slee massage it. You will be happier in the end, and it sounds like you got a great deal on the 100, so you should come out well ahead $$$-wise on a 100 sale/80 purchase.

We are ordering a new JK in a couple months when the 2012s are out with the new motor. Heated seats are now available. This totally makes them equal to a Cruiser...right??? :D

hey not really fair; you did state the jeep was built up. with lockers, lift and tires the 100 can be a very capable vehicle. The wheel base is longer and the extra weight will hurt but with kids and gear the 100 will win. especially on long long long road trips. its like apples and oranges; you can really but them side by side.

I have a 2004 tj rubicon that has been a blast.
I looked for a toyota 4runner, tacoma, fj heck almost any type of offroad toyota but even used the prices were high. I wanted more room for the dogs and family. I got an awesome deal on the Jeep and have been happy, sure it has no room, doesnt ride very smooth on the highway, has ac which is the only comfort feature I have oh and a stereo.

It is what I have so I make it work. Best of Luck with what you decide.

Dare to dream!

I hope the new motor helps, that was my main issue with the first JKs. Heated seats are nice too!
