Hello all,
I have been looking for information on the Mercedes T1 type vans as we are considering them as a successor to our current setup. The problem is, as popular as they are around the world, I have not been able to find much in the way of forum activity discussing them. I have signed up for Sprinter-Source tonight to see if there is a knowledge base there but a reasonable extensive search has not turned up a lot of information. One of the main things I am looking at right now is to see if anyone has managed to install a dash AC unit in one. A fairly short trip to the BC interior this past summer in our Syncro convinced me that I miss the meatlocker AC of our Cruiser. The two critical items I see is whether there is room to mount the condenser in front of the rad and whether there is room for mounting the compressor on the engine. The rest should be more straight forward (an under dash unit may also work etc.) but any knowledge of someone who has done it before would be great.
A turbo is also on the list but there seems to be a few examples around the web.
