We have the Rossmonster Havn, Nomad Euphoria, OVP Tahoma and let’s welcome the 4th player in this new very exciting type of camper: Sprinter and Ford E box campers. The Geotrek Verus biggest difference with the other 3 is the price: $195K, instead of $300K.
Specs are not bad but there are some compromises: less robust Ecoflow system instead of Victron, basic water heater and plumbing with also less capacity (I realized Geotrek does not even have a water gauge level on their $140K vans, when customers requested the feature on Facebook they said they would add a light close to the tank - lol). Diesel heater under front seat but no ducts (only comes out below front seat). Wood cabinetry instead of aluminum.
Most importantly, no offroad component (on their van the offroad package is $10K) unlike the competition
At the end of the day, it’s still a fantastic product when you consider the price because even with adding the offroad package and a few options to come closer to the competition spec, you might be at $220. They also have an option for 2 belted seats for families, however they want to implement a pop up tent for the extra sleeping space which is a terrible idea (not only a pop up is expensive, and you buy a box campers for insulation properties, not to kill such insulation with a pop up). They should copy OVP and do a cab over fold down bed option for families. Super simple and effective solution.
Let’s hope for more competition. At $300K+ those campers are in a different league than regular sprinter/transit builds, but at $200K this is priced competitively with such vans. This creates a real alternative for people looking to buy a 4 season camper and want more space than a van while keeping decent offroad capabilities and excellent insulation.
