Installed Master Lock Starter Sentry

Installed this anti-theft device in my Tacoma yesterday. So simple...just pull out the starter relay and stick in the Master Lock starter relay. They're on sale at JC Whitney for $70...well worth it I think. (not available for all years/makes/models) I also have a hood lock...so to steal my truck, they'd have to get through the hood lock, figure out why the truck won't start, replace the Master Lock starter relay with the stock starter relay that they just "happen" to be carrying. LOL I feel much better leaving my truck!

* Disables starter motor or fuel pump automatically
* Automatically arms when you turn the motor off
* Automatically disarms by receiving signal from transmitter when driver returns
* Foolproof—vehicle can be started even if battery in transmitter fails
* Easy to install in minutes—no wires to cut or splice!

Simply replace the existing relay with the Starter Sentry relay. 64-bit rolling code can't be sniffed, grabbed or hacked.. Compatible with all factory and aftermarket remote keyless entry, alarm and security systems. Won't interfere with vehicle's electrical system. Complete with relay and two transmitters.

Neat idea. looks like they don't make it for my 97.
One worry I would have though is if it malfunctioned. I think I would stash the stock relay somewhere in the truck.

You're a thinkin' man! :) That's exactly what they recommend in the instructions...also in case you lose your keys with the fob on it.

I just ordered one for my truck. I don't like how when you check up on your order from JC Whitney they give you an item number that doesn't seem to match anything. If you search for that item # it comes up with nothing. Kind of weird how they have it set up.

I will get one, especially for when I park my truck at some lonely trailhead in the boondocks. If only just to slow down someone attempting to steal my truck.

Personally, if I were installing an aftermarket anti-theft system I'd do one that would protect my vechicle even if I lost my keys and someone found them. One reason I'd never use a key fob remote that unlocks my car.

Would such a system likely cost more than $69?
