I hate these teaser posts...

The link goes to an Indiegogo page for a proposed project. The goal is to produce a solar powered portable refrigerator. Power can also be provided by a 12V outlet as commonly found in vehicles. The 'fridge collapses for storage when not in use.

The project has raised $35K in pledges, well beyond its goal. You can still sign up for the early bird pricing of $200 for a 18x12x9 inch model, or $500 for a 25x19x10 inch unit. Price includes shipping to a domestic USA address.

Does this need to be placed in the sun to work?? It's gonna work double hard to keep things cool in the direct sun

The idea seems good and I'll purchase if it lives up to its claims. But truthfully, how many of these "up-starters" have made it to full production and have lived up to the concept. I wish them luck, as I could use something portable like this but not holding my breath.

sounds stupid to me !! sorry but trying solar even in some areas here in AZ you have to have battery to carry you through a bit in the trees

OK put panels on the fridge so it has to sit out in the hot sun ? hahhaha OK STUPID DESIGN IMHO when you think about it

we have this now its called arb or engel or whatever and use solar and smaller battery like goal zero or make your own and chances are parts and the company will be there to support you in a few years !!!

I doubt they ever ship a working unit. I smell a scam. Nothing I saw adds up to a realistic product at the price they are claiming. The unit is too light, It claimed to use 60 watts/1 amp, which at 12 volts DC is 5 Amps if my calculations are correct. walls are too thin, solar panels are too small, not enough room for a battery that will power it for 8 hours. Even if they could get the tech to work, they would need to produce thousands of them to get to an affordable price point. The biggest clue to it being a scam is the $ 1000 original goal. That low of a goal would not give them the capital to produce it.
