Lol we heard all kinds of complaints till the 5.0 came out... Especially customers who had cayenne turbos and rr supercharged trucks... The full size rr with 305 hp didn't feel near as slow though....

The crappy thing is that lacking the HD package on the current model is not a complete deal-breaker. It still has low range with a locking center and traction control is very good. For my use, I don't need the rear locker but I do need low range. Now if I ever want to buy a 14+ LR4 I'm going to have to find one with HD which was a total PITA when I bought my LR3.

We will see. I have a feeling that dealerships will select plenty of trucks to order that come with low range. Can't say the same when the HD package was available.

I will estimate that in truth maybe 5% of LR4's will have the HD package (at least in my market).
Reason being, competition between dealerships is fierce and any specialized option that could mean "our" LR4 costs even $300 more than "their" LR4 means the customer is probably going to buy from "them". Aside from the HSE package and Cold Climate Package, the available options are superfluous to 98% of new LR4 buyers. Often we dont even add DAS digital/satellite radio ($750) to the trucks we order because we would rather have a $750 cheaper car to sell. And in the scheme of things DAS has a pretty broad appeal especially compared to the HD package.

What do you mean by this? You have confused me.
The V6 is a step in the right direction, although removing low range as standard is a psychological step in the wrong direction. I have no real use for an LR4 since I have a 110 and a Volvo XC90. However, when the time comes to replace the XC90 I'll certainly look at an LR4, although I suppose I'd have to get rid of the 110 and pick up a smaller runabout at the same time. One of the big problems for me with the LR4 is justifying driving around a huge V8. Our Volvo does just fine with a 5 cylinder turbo.
When the Volvo gets replaced in 1-3 years, I'll see what these V6 LR4s are doing in the used market. Or, maybe by then they'll be selling a diesel (haha) or a new Defender diesel (hahaha). You never know.

My mind wants to reject that. No modern manufacturer would accept the extra material costs, machining costs, extra friction, extra weight, etc.
If that is true, I wouldn't hold out any hope of increased mileage.
