I'm also a fan of having two tanks for water. As well as multiple ways to fill them, w/ or w/o power or pressure.

a buddy of mine is back in town from a long time away
he has an AC machine and i am at the point to decommission the rear air
so we vacuumed the refrigerant yesterday but we are at a loss to cap the port on the condenser

anyone know what i am looking for?

so yesterday we pulled the rear hydraulic generator off and are completing removing the lines
i thought the truck had redundant air but when we dropped the rear tank the bags would not pump up

does anyone know what this is?

it is under the drivers side next to the batteries

would love to move the batteries and install a drivers side tank, so much easier than a rear under mount

Does the vehicle have air brakes? That would be my first thought as air brakes and air suspension would not share a common tank as risk of a bag leak causing you to lose brakes.

My seats have a separate tank and compressor from my air ride.

it is a separate air tank that is plumbed for the air brakes and air ride

that is good.

i think i will try and relocate this to the rear where i removed the hydraulic generator
in this way i can mount a drivers side fuel tank and move the weight from the absolute rear to just behind the front axle
a bottle of air weighs less than 50 gal of diesel

& module heat & air unit are all removed and for sale

this ambulance was from the high desert of durango colorado so they are in good condition

let me know if you need some hoseline AC equipment

we hosed out the inside to be shed of the 20 year accumulation of 'moon dust'
cleaned up real nice

finished the temporary bed platform
drug a mattress from the house inside and hit the road

we brought some more CAD work of representative window sizes and location
still under evaluation but have narrowed it down




on the way north we went past the truck stop and put fattie on the scales to see how much weight we have shed during the demo



even with the bed in the back and 150 lbs of batteries + camping gear we shed 2320 lbs!!
i still have more lbs to go with some wiring and such but probably not more than a couple hundred
the current distribution is 49.7 / 50.3 . . . almost perfectly balanced
will not stay that way but have more confidence adding another fuel cell in the rear and the water tank we are planning will add back only 1000-1100 lbs or so


it is leaf season in the SE and we headed to the Cohutta Wilderness for a nice long weekend

slept in the back for 2 nights and had a blast



drove some of the NF roads and up to Albert Mt. and hiked to the fire watch tower and hiked to some waterfalls

the FS road was very dry and the couple of potential trouble areas / low places were of no consequence . . . this time
4 x 4 low and we just idled down some of the mountain switchbacks
never touched the brakes or accelerator
just about perfect








used the dispersed camping wide spot in the road near 'horse camp'

Mine is on a Freightliner FL60 chassis -- 14,100 empty, 20,000 gross. Empty is complete with the ambulance interior.

some might say im smart enough to not have made such a mistake . . . but
i purchased hub pilot wheels and tires and when i went to install i started with the rear and saw the 2 part lugs and knew i was hosed
i had only looked at the front and saw the fabco axle and wheel sitting on the hub and assumed
we all know what they say, bollocks!

anyway
anyone in the 'community' looking for some accuride 29374 singles with michelin xzy 385 65 22.5?
im in metro ATL and willing to drive a little

accuride says this is a crossover to Alcoa 82462x

i may purchased new stud pilot wheels and swap the tires but not sure and if someone is looking for wheels / tires then this could work
i am certain this is not my last ambulance so maybe i keep the wheels for later

any reason to not purchase LMTV 365 20 wheels & tires and stick w/ the 365/85/22.5?

395's are probably too tall at 46"

so here in the south we have experienced 20 consecutive days of clear skies and mild weather
much progress has been made during the thanksgiving break
we removed the lights from the roof
used a good de-burring tool on the holes and sanded the area
then applied patches of die punched AL circles sealed down w/ dicor
and then gave the cab a bath
