Getting ready to install some new parts on the engine. Hopefully tomorrow I will have the new injector sleeves installed, the new exhaust manifold installed and the turbo rebuilt. I had to take a whole lot of parts off tonight to get it ready.

A Prodcutive Weekend!

I was able to get some work done today on the truck, glad I tore the turbo apart, cause the it was leaking oil into the exhaust.

Wondering what you used to install the new cup.

There is a special tool available from OTC to remove and install the cups, however I feel like I already have too many tools. I used a MAC tools bushing press set that had a press head the exact same size as the injector. Then left the little nut off (which is suppose to hold the press head on the steel drift). I secured the press head to the drift with electrical tape, leaving the threaded portion exposed out the bottom. The threads guided the sleeve into the injector opening in the head, and it all wokred out pretty darn well. Of course that was all after cleaning the crap out of the head and wiping down the new sleeves, and coating them with Loctite 262. Then just a few taps with a ball peen hammer and install injector with new injector seal ring. Now if the darn turbo rebuild kit would ever show up... (I will post a pic of the tool I made for the installation)

Ok. I've used the OTC/International tool kit for doing cups and knew how to get them out without it but have always used the special driver to put them in. I'll save this in the old memory bank.

Installed the exhaust pipe today. Just a straight pipe, may add a muffler in time.
