Iowa to Alaska and back

To think you did that in a Toyota Celica..... today guys are scared to leave pavement without 4WD and a 4" lift. Spareparts? I remember we kept the old fan belt coiled on the spare tire.... and that was it for spares. But the big difference is 40 years ago many cars used common components. A lot of Jeep parts were off the shelf GM parts. Today, even different models of the same car use dedicated parts. Definitely miss the common sense of previous generations.

This was awesome! I just moved from Iowa to Alaska in May of this year. I wasn't in a Toyota coupe, but I was in a Honda Accord coupe. Wasn't able to do much exploring due to COVID restrictions. Hoping to do a less rushed, more scenic journey one day when I move back down to the lower 48.

Excellent story. As someone who is just a year or two behind you in age it brought back memories of some "foolish" but totally awesome things I did as a young man.
