As exciting as it was getting the discovery back this weekend it also means it’s time to get to work. There’s a lot to do to get the rover where it needs to be for uwharrie coming up in a couple weeks. Today I only had a few minutes but I was able to tension up the new ish belts that I put on right before she was sent off for the transmission repairs. When I got her home she was squeaking like crazy and the power steering didn’t feel quite right. Turns out the larger belt was a little loose and the belt was just dragging over the pulley. She’s all good to go now though. Next up I need to figure out what’s going on with the Hellas on the front bumper. They aren’t turning on.

Today we say goodbye to the Frankenstein bumper that came on the D1. Saturday we are installing a used arb bumper. The bumper is from a d2 so I’m interested to see how it looks. I’m glad to have finally removed the old bumper though, it was barely welded on and in person it just looked crappy. The arb will also give me two points as well as the ability to mount a winch that I can trust lol.

Arb bumper is officially on and I love it! At some point this week I will be putting on the hella lights and ditching the led light bar. I also got a winch to go on as well. Hoping to have everything finished up before uwharrie safari this next weekend!

Here we go with some more updates! Hellas are mounted, for some reason I can’t get them to work though. There is power to the resistor and to the switch, however they are not coming on. Sadly I don’t think I’ll have time to dig into them
Fully before the weekend. Winch roller is mounted and ready for the winch to go on. Also the limb risers are installed using the old light mounts from the old bumper.

Wiring them is a nightmare lol. I have them switched up to my rocker panel I place of the radio unit so they don’t run in conjunction to the headlights. After looking at the lights I think they might of had some water get in the lens so I’m going to probably pull them apart an check the bulbs and connections inside the light housing. If that doesn’t work I’m going to pull the wiring and start from scratch. The wiring is an absolute mess anyways and the whole lot could use some cleaning up.

Quick pre trip update-

Winch is wired and ready to rock. Gear is packed. Need to top off fluids tomorrow before hitting the road. I’m ready to rock and roll! Super excited about my first Uwharrie safari! I’ll hopefully be writing up a good trip repot upon returning home with lots of pictures. I do plan on trying to price together a YouTube video of the trip as well which I will link in the forum once it’s done too.

Also if you are going to be out at the safari this weekend come say hey and introduce yourself! Let me know you follow my forum, it will keep me motivated to post more stuff on here!
