I doubt the jeep truck would be intended to compete with the RAM 1500s - that wouldn't make sense. I think it will be based on the JKU chassis - perhaps with an extension similar to the AEV Brute conversions - hopefully with a extended single cab or a double cab configuration. That would put it more in competition with the Toyota Tacoma and the new smaller Chevy Colorado trucks.

They should definitely stay with a coil system in the rear end. The Ram 1500 and 2500 are both coil springs. They changed from leaf to coil in the 1500 in 2014 model year and the 2500 2015 model year. I have a ram 1500 and it rides so much better with the coil springs vs. my dad's 2012 Laramie ram 1500 with rear leaf springs. Depending on how big, seating compacity, storage volume and towing I am hopeful that I will be able to replace my Ram 1500 in 2019 or else I will have to go with a AEV Brute with a diesel.

My 2010 Ram 1500 had coils and lousy payload #1400ish, rode great though

There is already a few kits out there that make a JKU into a pickup with a some what decent bed:

Umm we are taking about a production model not a kit. Did you just discovered the kit? Is be well-known for a few years now.

I Imagine it will be the same size as the previous Dakota as not to compete with the ram 1500. I assume it would have some upgraded suspension technology. But probably the same payloads etc.
