I can't agree here either without more info. I picked up this 2001 TJ for a steal because the mods didn't mean anything to most buyers. I think many dismissed it precisely because of the 4 banger and body damage.
I got a 73K mile Jeep with brand new BFG 33s, 9" rear with CHP 9, front Currie HP D44 ARBs front and rear, SYE, spray on bed liner throughout, Full roll cage and an RE 3.5 Superflex lift.
I asked the questions and bought a tough Jeep for the cost of the front axle. That said, I think the 4 cylinder is adequate at best. Gets 18 mpg around town but I am in the process of swapping in a 4.0.
Still a great deal for me because I actually LIKE working on them.:coffeedrink:
It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want something that's going to spend a lot of time on the highways then a 4.0L would probably be a smarter move. But if you're just going to stick to back roads and or around town then the 2.5L will be fine. Especially, when properly geared. Gearing is more important when you're dealing with the narrower power band.Thank you all for the input on this Jeep. I was worried about the 4 cylinder having enough power. I will hold out for something with alittle more power.

How well do the shackle reverse kits work? I would like to improve the drive if I can.
Not sure... I kinda like the tan color... otherwise black.
