Is this the Correct Forum to Inquire About Tiger RVs?

I’ve seen Tigers around once in a while for several years now, been intrigued by them from the first sighting, and I might be getting to the point where they’re more than a passing fancy.

I’ve got the IH/Alaskan working as well as it’s going to be, but it’s still loud, slow, thirsty, not particularly comfortable to ride in, and is a nightmare to shift. No biggie for me (except that satanic transmission)— I can wear earplugs and put up with the rest, but it looks likely I’ll have a traveling companion next camping season, and I would like the journey to be as pleasant for her as possible (assuming she’d even ride in the IH).

What’s the low buy-in for one of these? I browsed Google results yesterday, and the one I found that was priced was at about $80K. No way I can afford that.

How’s the build quality? I’ve seen some pretty shoddily-built campers (and frankly a mid-‘80’s Alaskan is not well made) and want nothing to do with that, however cheap it may be.

What about the ownership experience in general? Does the manufacturer provide good customer service? Up until a few months ago, there was a guy at Alaskan (son of the second owner, IIRC) who would go out of his way to answer questions about your Alaskan, no matter what its age. Brian helped me with several issues, always happy to take the time. This is my reference standard for customer service.

I’d love to hear some owner impressions, or whatever info you can pass along.

Some owners posted in this tread.

There is/was an owners forum on tapatalk iirc.

Ok, thank you.

There is an active Facebook community called "Tiger Motorhome Owners" (and a few other groups) for general discussions around the Tigers, tips, maintenance, etc. Units come up for sale every now and then at difference price point. Worth a look if you are on Facebook.

Thank you for the prompt. I sent a PM to this OP and hopefully answered all the questions he had listed above. Just for Public consumption, we really loved having the tiger and somewhat miss it being in our stable. But now that we bought a cabin and have pretty much ended our epic 3 to 4 months road trips and backcountry explorations that we used to take over the last 40 years, it seemed ridiculous to hold onto the tiger and just leave it parked in our driveway. It certainly was not a good choice for a daily driver! I hope the OP has luck finding something that he can afford.

Anyone know any details on new Tiger coming out in October, I see they also moved manufacturing to Dawsonville, GA from Columbia, SC. A one piece molded body would be nice but probably cost prohibitive.

Per a post on the Tiger group, they moved back in January. They left behind a lot of stuff and the new shop owner is selling all that. Looks like a good opportunity for current Tiger owners to get parts and tooling.
