Isuzu brakes...are yours like this?

Hi, hoping for some advice on the brakes on the nps. I know they aren’t the greatest and have read some older posts of problems other members have had, thankfully I don’t have the same issues as them.
As far as I know my brakes are supposed to be self adjusting -2013 NPS 300. When I depress the pedal it goes along way down. The brakes still work but don’t give me much confidence with the pedal so low. If I pump the pedal I get better pressure higher up on the pedal. There is plenty of linings left on the shoes. I’m wondering if the brakes are not self adjusting properly or perhaps I need to bleed them, if so, do I do this the usual way or do they need to be done with a vacuum?
Maybe this is normal? Does anyone else with a NPS experience this?
Cheers

if on the first pump you have a low but hard pedal and the second pump a higher but still hard pedal the shoes need adjusting imo. i have not done mine yet [2007nps300] but normaly there is a star wheel type adjuster that needs to be adjusted manualy

Yes Cuddy sounds like manual adjustment is required my NPS pedal is a bit lower after 28,000 kms will do a manual adjustment when I get home as far as I remember no of the Isuzus have self adjusters does make a big improvement did number one sons NPR his boys could not believe the difference after last service don't think they had been adjusted in 30 or 40 ,000 km . The only brake issues have been after water crossings drying them out quickly otherwise they pull rather badly a few application s over a couple of kms and they are fine again Ross

Hmm ... pretty sure they are supposed to self adjust. The adjuster is not like the older models, there is only a small hole where it adjusts. If you want to back them off to remove the drum you have to insert an Allen key or similar to push a spring/ wire back so you can back them off. If you wind them on too far and the adjuster is seized or tight it is a world of pain to deal with... so a mechanic tells me

Self adjusters can stick and not function. Probably worth removing a drum to have a look. They're basically the exact same as manual adjusters except a little arm rotates the star wheel if the shoes travel far enough.

Cheers javajoe, i was worried if I went to far I wouldn’t be able to back them off, will adjust them and see how it goes
