Isuzu NPS 300 camper build

Great job, do you mind providing a source for the spare wheel winch thanks?

I bought the winch from a local trailer supplies business. I removed the steel cable & replaced with 10mm dyneema rope.
with the info in the pic you should be able to find a local supplier or ebay supplier.

This looks pretty good. In your video it looks like you have some side to side movement in the lifting roof when you enter the camper . How will it handle winds? I assume with the fabric attached, it will act like a big sail?

Yes, basically when the sleeve is fitted and pulled taught it becomes a brace for the roof.

Thanks mate, looks the goods, your not worried about UV damage to the dyneema?

Cheers Steve

It is well protected under the overhang of the body so I don't think UV is a concern. Plenty of people getting around with their winch rope completely exposed out the front of their vehicles and don't seem bothered about it.

I stand corrected, it seems UV resistance is better than I thought, which makes me feel better about my front winch now. But agree about it having to be genuine dyneema.

I've ordered a brake winch with steel cable now, they didnt offer a rope option, but will put that on my 'future upgrades/nice to have' list

cheers steve

Another question about the fuel change over valve if I may.

The barb sizes on the Pollak valves do not exactly match the hose size specs for the NPS and the orientation is back to front, not that that matters I suppose.

As you have fitted one how did it go in real life?, all clamped up well, no issues with switching or flow rates- including return?

Or are people using a different valve?

Sorry, just trying to make certain as my engineer will ask all of this I'm sure.

Cheers

Steve

Looks good Glen, i remember you coming down to look at my oka when the engine conversion was being done.

MY oka has/had a 6 port pollack valve which as you said, restricts flow a fair bit, i disconnected mine, left it there as i use the wiring for the fuel gauge's, which change on the one gauge when switched.

I ended up buying 2 scintex 3 port valves. https://www.scintex.com.au/products/3-port-fuel-tank-selection-valve

I have had a fuel pressure issue which has gotten better as i work my way back, now changing to bigger pick ups.

I'm not surprised by what you say about fuel delivery, but only because I know you've got a 24v 6bt cummins in your OKA!
I haven't had any problems with supply so far with the Pollack valve but I haven't really driven it a lot either, time will tell.

Steve, I do remember that the Pollack valve connectors were a slightly different size to the Isuzu but it all went together OK.

I now have the sleeve fitted and as predicted, when fully raised it is solid as a rock. The sleeve does become a brace when tensioned. I had the roof up on Sunday just gone when Victoria was copping a battering from strong winds, no problem for the roof.
