Interesting news…as Stellantis continues to struggle to find a better path forward towards profitability, the decision to yes, bring back the mid-sized Durango pickup truck seems to be finalized.

So in the future your choice of which mid-size truck to buy will include the new US built Durango (which should be available in a few years).

With the Ram full sized trucks getting such good reviews and becoming more and more popular, hopefully Stellantis will follow this successful model for the Durango.

And the plans seem to include a PHEV model which could be a game changer for those folks thinking about scaling down to a small truck.

Read more about it:

WASHINGTON, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Chrysler parent Stellantis (STLAM.MI) is moving forward with plans to build a new midsize pickup truck in Belvidere, Illinois, the company said on Wednesday.

In August, Stellantis said it was delaying its planned investments at the Illinois plant. Stellantis in 2023 agreed to build a new $3.2 billion battery plant and invest $1.5 billion in Belvidere to build new midsize trucks by 2027. The Italian-American automaker told employees about the investment plans on Wednesday in a memo seen by Reuters.

A company spokesperson said on Wednesday the new midsize truck is "planned to take full advantage of our multi-energy strategy," including options for a gasoline-powered vehicle, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle.

I owned an '05 Durango High top. It had the 3.92 gears, and would just run up the hills. Glad to see them reintroducing it to the market.

Surely a mid-sized pickup from RAM aimed at the Tacoma and Ranger will basically be a Gladiator?

That would be the quickest way to get a mid-sized truck on the dealership sales lot.
A Power Wagon trim would be cool with styling cues from a 1955 PW.
Tradesman trim level for a affordable truck?

It blows my mind that there hasn't been a Mopar midsized truck for almost 15 years. Should be interesting to see what they come up with - the space is a fair bit different compared to the days of the V8 Dakotas, particularly where more focused off-road trims are concerned.
