Well, the good news is that here's a way to get a nicely equipped 4x4 without the near half-year wait it sometimes takes when you order one.

The downside is that it's a 2015, and if you ordered one today, you'll get a 2016, and that year will make a difference to the resale value down the road.

A passenger Sprinter can be a good starting point for a camper under certain circumstances, the biggest one being that you wanted a lot of windows anyway. With a passenger van, you get a trimmed out interior, which is a big head start compared to doing that work yourself. And while I don't know if it's still the case, passenger vans had more appropriate suspension tuning; changing my current Sprinter from cargo to passenger rear springs made a huge improvement.

Sadly, the expensive roof air conditioning system is not set up to work when stationary.

Good heavens. Now Odyssey owners can move up to the three-pointed star.

This is the Mercedes Vito van that's been around Europe for a while, so it's not like we got anything special, but it's reasonably well regarded over there. Cargo-wise, I'm sure this is a reaction to the Ram Promaster City/Fiat Doblo, the Ford Transit Connect, and the Chevrolet City Express/Nissan NV200, but it's quite a bit bigger than those, being longer by about a foot.

But whereas a Sprinter is pretty workable to live out of, this one's going to lose a minimum of a foot in cargo floor length and, most importantly, the option for stand up interior height.

On the other hand . . . :sombrero:
