iTunes Genius

I have to admit, the "genius" feature in the latest version of iTunes is sweet!

Select a song in your library, hit the genius button and get a suggested playlist returned of songs that fit with the one you selected. It's not perfect, but it's pretty slick.

I like it!

Ok, just got home and downloaded 8. So its another way for them to make money so you'll buy more music. Kind of sucks, you have to have a itunes account with a credit card payment method to even use it? Stupid.

pretty much man.

i just updated it tonight to get the latest iphone update and most of my music 80% comes from CD's that i uploaded onto itunes. and from other sources. Dont buy music from itunes (too expensive) so even if i didn't buy from them and click on my music, it shows up on the right, with no way to turn it off (well i havent found a way yet) i guess if you buy alot from itunes then sure, its great. But so far, not a fan.

Just ignore the bar on the right.

You don't need a .mac account, just an account with the iTunes store.

I ignore the genius bar on the right with suggestions from the iTunes and just save the recommended playlist that comes up from my library. Most of the songs in my library are from CD's and other sources with only about 20 -25 percent from iTunes.

Works great.

Turn off Genius in the general prefs - then click the icon on the bottom to hide the sidebar.

Apple knows how to market to the masses and continue the revenue stream.

I haven't used it, but it sounds similar to Pandaora Radio, which has been around for a couple years now. I think there is even a Pandora app for the iPhone/Touch.

I am running 10.3.9 on the Apple at home so its a no go for me. Stuck with iTunes 7.

I have noticed significant improvement in Contacts (speed) and a slight improvement in battery life with the iPhone software patch
