Java's Mini Trailer

I have been trying to figure out what to do for a seal at the top of the tail gate. Couldn't find and flappy weather stripping i liked. Well a co-worker suggested Rubber cove base, And I have a few hundred feet sitting in the shop. So I grabbed a piece and cut it up when i got home. Worked perfect!

And got the mud flaps on for my inspection. They are kinda big.... but hopefully they wont give me too many problems. The fenders are a little skinny for the size tires i have.... I may have to swap out wheels for my inspection.

Tongue is mostly done. Need to massage the smitty built can strap to fit the scepter water can.... That will be an interesting project.

Curious as to your impression of the Smittybilt carriers. I have a pair of the old steel AT carriers, and they're heavy as hell. Looked at the smittybilt for lightness, but some reviews indicated they were a might... flimsy.

So far they are fine. They don't fit the cans very snugly, so I see them rattling around a bit, thats my only real complaint. They seem plenty strong enough. I would have made my own, but I couldn't even buy materials to compete with the smitty price. I have them bolted though 4 holes in the back to the plywood on the front of my trailer. They seem sturdy mounted like that.

those are some heavy can carriers....:bike_rider:

Yeah :D

After my test drive, I saw how much mud was flug up onto the trailer. Figured Id Plasti dip the fronts of the fenders now to try to help with rock chips.

Just barely found this thread today. Looks Awesome! I am working on getting some funds together to do something very similar so I will be referring back here often.

Thanks Zach! I'll look for a build thread, after your roof racks I'm sure it will not be sweet.

Shake down run this weekend went well. It holds a lot of crap. Tows well, I lost about .5mpg vs a fully loaded truck, and the only thing in the truck was the cooler. SO nice.
