So true. I didn't realize there was a market for LED tinting products till I looked for something to calm this down.
When I travel I carry a roll of electrical tape in my luggage to cover up the plethora of LEDs in most rooms if I can't unplug them.

Small update.
Truck stock oil pressure gauge never worked. During turbo install and subsequent alternator fun it became apparent the sensor was unplugged. Specifically the wire had been cut.
After a lot of fun finding a Toyota 1/8 28 BSPT threaded tee and such, along with a 45 adapter for the tee to provide sufficient offset, and then getting everything tight and sealed despite the aforementioned lack of clearance but FINALLY:
And now...the idiot gauge works.
May eventually explore aftermarket temp gauge and such but for now this is at least more info than the day before.

Building out a rear storage setup to cover the bed. V1, next stage will bring hatches into play for access to the sides without dropping the tailgate. Plan is for recovery stuff, OBA, and potentially tools/spares there.
EZ tube aluminum frame.
Baby band saw for the cuts
Starboard King for the top.
Used excess for sliding access and to block sides
Center has good clearance but retains a lip for things to be secured on top. May make a bracket for maxtrax and things like shovels and the like.
More to follow when I put hatches on and locks in as well as block the ends for secure storage.

Noticed this same model truck in Oklahoma last week, although this example wasn’t nearly as nice as yours. It’s pretty bad when your 10 year says “hey dad look a hilux!”?

I may, in all likelihood I’ll keep it somewhat clean but build a bracket to hold maxtrax, shovel(s) and the like that would rest on top along with some S track to facilitate modular retention of things. The nice thing about the old school bed is for day to day you have the tie down points on the outside of the bed to hook into.
Setup will come off this weekend for refinement, I like it but there are some small tweaks to make to it after leaving it in place the past couple of weeks that were anticipated but I wanted to validate.

So…it’s a bit of a light show, shades of blue throughout the cabin. Given the vintage, I think it all works. Not optimal, but again, given the vintage. With the radio, the dual battery, and the gauge it all works.

Bed cover mods closer to completion.
Hatches were added to facilitate getting into the sides without opening the tailgate.
Ended up putting some MOLLE in to further close off the compartments.
Small locks for a little bit of security on the right side
Added spin off hatches over the wheel well portion further up just to ensure nothing got so far forward that it would be real pain to get to.
Countersunk the holes for the bolts and ended up throwing some paint on them just to clean it all up.
Final touch is going to be playing with a locking tailgate latch to round out the security aspect-it isn’t all that secure from a determined effort collectively more of a deterrent. Silicone along the sides to come to aid with water flowing either off the front or the back side and she should be about done for this part of the project.
Family coming in town and such will slow down mods. Next big thing is OBA and finalizing comms.
