Jeep Camping Trailer

Thanks for the compliments guys, this place is pretty cool, I'll make sure to let yall know how it holds up on its adventures.

I am currently working on a 3 axis hitch because the ball hitch binds to much offroad.

and it will eventually have a bed cover over it that clips on like a duster on a TJ/YJ. then we want to have a flip up rack to hold a RTT, but those things are expensive.

Great job on your trailer! Does your trailer give you the room you need for your gear, or are you finding that you could use a little more?
Well at any rate, enjoy your trailer, you deserve it.

Happy Trails!

this picture shows how we had it loaded for most of the trip and it handles well. The only thing I would like to add is a holder for a jerry can and water can. The trailer holds a suprising amount of equipment, plus the cooler is on the front so you dont have to take up space putting a cooler in the trailer.

It holds more than I was able to in my jeep alone without the backseat, and now I can use the backseat for passengers AND hold stuff :victory:

I do want to figure out either a hard cover, or soft duster cover to keep things dry in case of rain.

Very nice! Theres a guy doing a very similar build over at Mallcrawlin.

Cant believe no one has asked for pics of the Wagoneer though...

the waggy is my roomates its an 86 that we used BJs spring over and shackle flip kit on with 4" BJs springs, and its on a 14bolt rear with an 8 lug chevy 44 front on 37 procomp ETs on 17s. It has a 360 bored out to about 390 with a built turbo 400 tranny. The tranny shifts stupidly hard for what it is, but boy is it fun to drive.

I dont think i have any newer pics of it on my computer, but this is when we did the spring over on the old 35s with the stock d44s front and rear. it looks much better with the full width axles.

funny you mention it, because we built two around the same time, this one was stock springs with the BJs kit on 35s

Man I love the look of that trailer! I wish something like that was easy enough to make from scratch. Well done. What did the finished box dimensions end up being?

The trailer design looks very similar to the one built in the TRUCKU TV program.
Here is a link to the video of the program. They added an cage on it for topside storage.

when did this thing air? We started this buildup in February and it took until May to finish because gathering parts was a long process. The one thing i dont like about how they did theirs is that they lost about 6" of tub space by joining them like that, and you have to weld up the wheelwells. We used as much of each tub as we could to get the largest area.

I just checked out the build on mallcrawlin too, that is pretty cool how he is stretching it.

That is a pretty cool build though.

just watched the little video clip, the red YJ tub trailer on boggers they show is the one I had seen online that made me want to build one haha. I never knew there were that many running around, that show makes it sound like everyone had one haha.

The tub deminsions are 3'x4' in the main area, bu it is actually a little over 4'x4' as a whole. the good thing is, on top of the inner fenders gives us a great place to mount the highlift, grill, first aid kit, and tools. We also have an air tank bracket that will be mounted in the fender behind the taillight to hold our CO2 tank.

Hey Brooks,

The trailer is looking awesome. I remember how limited the space was in the back of my TJ so I know that any extra space is great. I think you should change the name of your fab business to FlipFlopsFab. I don't think I have ever seen pics of you building something when you weren't wearing flip flops.

haha, your not the first to suggest that, I wear shoes when I am plasma cutting, but welding in the dead of summer you will alot of times catch me in flip flops, I recently learned if you wear shoes there is less to clean when you take a shower after fabricating haha.

I built mine in 2000 using a CJ-8 tub. I was parting out quite a few Jeeps and just happened to have all the stuff laying around. The trailer was built in 1 week and off to the 4wd Jambo in Ohio for it first trip. It works great. Here's a link to it:

The frame is a one off using 2x3 3/16 wall box tubing.

thats really cool man, we looked for an unlimited tub first, but it wasnt in the budget for ours, and CJ8 tubs are like gold around here haha
