Jeep or tacoma

I have a problem> Right now I have 2 vehicles, but NO work and I have to sell one. I can't make up my mind. The choices are a 2008 Jeep jk rubicon 4 door which already has a winch and side bars. or a 2007 Toyota tacoma with a small lift, and a flip pac camper. I tend to like the jeep because as a daily driver it is easier to ride in and there are a gazillion up grades plus the cost of a new one is way way over the top. The toyota on the other hand is probably the easier build, and: has better sleeping arrangements. I have along history with both of these brands, having owned several of each over the years. So what do you guys thinks? Jeep or tacoma? one satays one goes. Help confused

Are both vehicles paid for? If so, the Jeep will bring in the most cash.

I'd keep the Jeep though if it's paid for. My .02 :victory:

X2, I 'd keep whichever is paid for or close to being paid off.

If that isn't an issue then I would keep the Taco over the Jeep. If you are planning on keeping this for a long time the Taco will be more reliable. There are already concerns about the long term reliability of the JK. I have had a good bit of experience with both brands, and while I like Jeeps, we both know that Toyota has tighter tolerances and more uniform reliability. To me, the most important thing in an expedition vehicle is reliability. My opinion.

Welcome to ExPo by the way.

Yeah, but make sure that you flip the Toyota after about 5-7 years otherwise you'll be stuck with a vehicle with a rusted out frame that no one wants.

A 2008 JK has a lifetime powertrain warranty for the original owner; you can always install a Flipac on it later (Thanks Mario and Martyn).
59,000 miles on my JK and no problems yet --- except for the pesky trans that runs hot when I pull a trailer uphill...

I'd sell the Taco to an ExPo member so you know it goes to a good home.

If you only have one vehicle, a pickup is by far the most versatile.

Pretty confident the Toyota drivetrain will outlast that of the Jeep.

Jeep is more fun. Pickup is more practical.

As always.... it depends what you use your vehicles for...

It depends what your future plans for traveling are. I would say the 4-door jeep (if a hardtop) would be more practical.

You said you like driving the Jeep more so???

Try to keep both as long as possible and hope you get a job soon.
Both rigs are pretty new so you will loose $$ when you sell them.

tough to give a recommendation as there are so many factors. I think a tacoma with a flippac is a perfect adventure vehicle for 1 or 2 people, how many are you rolling with? I love my SUV (like your jeep basically) but there is an access cab tacoma with a flippac I see occasionally that is so great. Post pictures give some details.

Personally I vote Taco. The reason is because I just made the same choice. I have wanted to get my hands on a Jeep for years but they are just too impractical for me. I haul my bike around, sometimes multiple bikes/people, and my truck provides me and my bike a warm, waterproof place to sleep at night. The jeep cant do that.
+ its a Toyota :victory:

Just my .02 cents based on my decision.

It isnt 1982 anymore, that issue has long since been fixed.:victory:

Exactly my point. All those 1982 Tacomas with rotten frames that Toyota had to buy back... Or 1982 head gasket replacements, or..., or...

And Jeeps don't run carbs or Peugeot transmissions any more either. ;)

At least Toyota bought them back, if it was GM or Ford or Chrysler they would have told everyone to stick it. :Wow1:
and lets not bring the recall game into the equation, Toyota may be looking bad right now but they have less than half of the documented recalls than any other big brand.

I'll concede the point on buying the trucks back. After all, they've done it what, three times now? If you pick the right Toyotas you could have effectively been driving free vehicles for three+ vehicle generations.

IMO the current Toyota "sudden acceleration" recall stuff is a bunch of B.S. Bad drivers.
