SO AFTER A LONG AND GRUELING ISSUE WITH MY 08 TRNS RUBICON 4 DR. I GOT THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO ME GO GET A TRANSMISSION COOLER INSTALLED AND YOU WONT HAVE SUCH PROBLEMS WITH YOUR TRANSMISSION BUT DON'T DO IT YOUR SELF IN CASE THERE IS A PROBLEM. SO I DID I USED A WELL REGARDED SHOP IN THE NORTH COUNTY SAN DIEGO AREA. THINGS WERE FINE I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS STILL A SLIGHT LEAK AND CHECKED MY FLUID ALMOST EVERY DAY, NO LOSS JUST SOME DRIPS THAT FIGURED WERE FROM THE ADD ON TRNS COOLER WORK SO IDROVE TO SB THEN BACK THEN TO MALIBU THEN BACK THEN TO SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO>>>> U H OH I GET BACK IN MY JEEP AND START IT UP FUNNY IT WON'T IDLE IN DRIVE OK WIERD

I DUNNO BAD GAS SO I DRIVE BEACK TO THE FREEWAY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AT EVERY LIGHT GET ON THE FREEWAY GOING STRONG NO WARNING LIGHT NOTHING NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.. UNTIL I AM BACK IN NORTH SAN DIEGO THEN A SMALL PUFT SOUD MAYBE LIKE A SILENCED RIFLE INT THE MOVIES BU TLOAD ENOUGH TO HEAR OVER THE ROAD NOSIE. NAD I SMELL SMOKE LOOK IN THE REAR VIEW AND I LOOK LIKE A GERMAN FIGHTER PLANE FROM WW2 GOING DOWN IN A BLAZE A SERIOUS BLAZE OF WHITE SMOKE. SO OHH ____ I GET OFF ATTHE NEXT OFFRAMP FIGURE I'LL NURSE IT TO THE DEALER AND I GET TO THE MIDDLE OF THE OVER PASS NO TRANSMISSION LEFT............ JUST A REVING ENGINE AND I AM DEAD IN THE WATER STOPPED .

THE THING IS REALLY SMOKING NOW I THINK OHH SS---- FIRE NEXT? GET OUT AND SEE HUGE PUDDLE OF TRANSMISSION BLOOD UNDER THE JEEP. SO TOWED WE GO MY JEEP AND I GET THERE ITS LATE SATURDAY AND THE GUY WRITES UP WORK TICKET. ILOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND ONE OF THE OLDER LINES THAT GOES IN LOW TO THE RADIATOR HAS POOPED COMPLETELY OUT EFFECTIVELY DRAINING THE TRANSMISSION..!!!! SO HERE IS THE ISSUE I CAN SEE IT COMING THE DEALER IS GONNA DENY THE THAT IT WAS THEIR WORK THT LEFT THE TRANS LINE LOOSE OR NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AND THE SHOP IS GONNA SAY THEY DIDNOT TOUCH THAT LINE SO ITS THE DEALERS FAULT. THEY ARE GOING TO BE POINTING FINGERS AT EACH OTHER.. I AM GONNA BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH NO JEEP NO TRANSMISSION AND NO OPTIONS..

SO THE BIG QUESTION IS HOE DO I HANDLE THIS ? WHAT Do YOU GUYS THINK? THE ISSUES Are whois responsible and there is no way that this is a random occurrence.

:sombrero: Well, it'll all depend on WHERE THE TRANNY LINE LET GO--

If it's in the aux cooler loop that you JUST had installed, then the install shop screwed up, but that'll depend on they're method of installation, there are many !

You're gonna have to get the inspection report from the dealer and you're gonna have to pay for that-

Hopefully the dealer can determine the install shops error, whatever it's gonna cost lots-

Just hope for the fault determineation to point at the install shop-thats the only logical answer-but there is a chance for you to need a lawyer for resolve !

Good luck

Fill it back up and it maybe be ok. Either way. Your argument could be, you guys just did a transmission and now this.. Unless it was when the cooler was added but why is the line still going to the radiator. Usually you just use the cooler and bypass the radiator

well

I am going to try and get the dealers rep and the shop rep together. see what happens. hopefully both will be straight up and honest about it. otherwise it may be a battle thing is my jeep has been in the shop for weeks this past month because of trans failure. and I did check the fluid . the failure of the line was catastrophic not gradual there was no warning .

Good chance you fix the line and fill it back up the trans will be fine. All the trans I've done the lines got pulled off the radiator and the cooler got flushed. Probably what the dealer did when they replaced your trans.

Its a jeep thing...I wouldn't understand

It's a his jeep thing. Not a jeep thing. I had my chev suburban trans let go too. Got it rebuilt, got it home, not 3 days later it dropped again, built it back up (free of charge this time), with some stronger internals and a shift kit, and it did the trick.

I have seen crap happen to every make of vehicle.

It appears your CAPS lock on your keyboard is stuck. You must have spilled soda on it. Yea that must be it... :sombrero:

:sombrero: Somebody did a very lousy job for you-

I have an over-protective aux cooling system that has-12 seperate coolant joints and it hasn't leaked a drop in over 4 years-

I hope you can come outta this OK !

Congratulations on getting the tail shaft where you do not want it!

Now to get serious. I have had problems with my 2009 JKU also. I went to the Escondido and they said no problem. I moved to New Mexico and took it into a dealer here. They said, No Problem! Shortly after it went out. I took it back to the dealer they said it was the transfer case. I said no it was the transmission. They pulled the T-case and then called and said it was the transmission. Then then said it was my fault because I had pulled it with the RV the wrong way.

Now for the good part of the story. I then proceed to say the vehicle had not been pulled one foot prior to the first and second times I had it to the dealer with the complaints about the problems. It was after the second complaint that I put on the tow set-up.

I ended up taking it to a private transmission shop and spending $3,800 and getting a new transmission. Yes, when I saw the problems others were having, I added a separate trans. cooler.

This is topical of the way Jeep works. I had the 100,000 mile guarantee on the drive train and with still only 75,000 miles on the vehicle this is the third time I have had major problems with the vehicle.

Just so you know the advertising for the 2009 Jeep JK stated that they had this great transmission with a tough sounding name. This made me think it was built for off-road use. Well I found out it is the same one that is used in their mini-vans. This is from the transmission shop.

To get to your question. From having another Jeep "Factory buy back" we call it a lemon. Get a lawyer and they will be your best bet. Been there and done that.

I could go on about my personal experiences with Jeeps BUT! It is a Jeep thing and I DO understand. When they are the only game in town THEY call the shots.

Good luck!

Chrysler has been fighting buyers on trans issues forever, been there and done that, just don't let them sublet the work to Aamco or it will only get worse.

funny thing I had a toyota 4x pick up went through 5 transmissions in 100k now that is what people call reliability by the toy never paid for a single one, ironically that was an 82 4x4 pick up with a stick My 77 304 v8 jeep with a turbo hydromatic 350? trans never had a problem. Chrysler already replaced it once
my sons landcover ate head gaskets for lunch. so much for land rover reliability. thing is they all have issues all of them. it s the people and the idiots you deal with that make it a problem and the opinionated ones that speak with out knowledge. This thing has a life time warranty that means 99 years on the drive train, I am over 60 so Ifgure I'll get at least 10-20 more transmission out of them and maybe an engine or 2 !!!!!!

oh and by the way my son just graduated law school from UCLA passed the bar and is working a very big powerful law firm.... no worries here!

Suuuuuurreeee. It has to be true because it's on the Internet right? You know how i can tell you're lying? You called a land cruiser a Land Rover aaaannndddd you couldn't even spell land cruiser correctly. I'm not sure what "the toy never paid for a single one" means. Ifgure? Oh and jeeps never came with a turbo 350. They only had turbo 400s. I'm at a loss at how terrible the whole structure of your response.
Oh and by the way I'm not sure what relevance your son working for a big powerful law firm has to do with anything. Is it for intimidation purposes?
