Breathe new life into your Jeep with the all-new Banks Sidewinder Jeep Turbo System. This complete bolt-on system is engineered for ultimate performance and rock crushing capability. The Banks Sidewinder Turbo System transforms your ‘05-06 Jeep Wrangler into a pavement eating, rock crushing, trail running monster.

» Horsepower Best Gain:
+66.1 HP @ 4400 RPM (48.8%)

» Torque Best Gain:
+83.7 lb-ft @ 3200 RPM (50.5%)

» Horsepower Peak-to-peak:
Stock = 138.6 HP
Banks = 201.4 HP
Improvement = +62.8 HP (45.3%)

» Torque Peak-to-peak:
Stock = 176.0 lb-ft,
Banks = 249.4 lb-ft
Improvement = +73.4 lb-ft (41.7%)

» The Ram-Air intake is located at the same height as stock. Also included is an optional through the hood Super Scoop. This allows the system to pull in cooler denser outside air, resulting in increased performance and system response. While we highly recommend the installation of the Super-Scoop, it is not required. The Super Scoop is modeled after the international version of the Jeep J8.

Double-slip joint for fitment to your existing exhaust tube. Ensures a better, more reliable hold when you need it.» The turbo system is compatible with both the Banks TorqueTube header and Monster Exhaust.

» Double-slip joint for fitment to your existing exhaust tube. Ensures a better, more reliable hold when you need it.

» The Banks Sidewinder Turbo, with its nearly 50% increase in Horsepower and Torque, dwarfs the 12-25% increase produced by Jeep Stroker kits.

» At high altitude, the Banks Sidewinder Turbo System’s boosted air allows the engine to maintain power even in diminished ambient conditions.

» Installing the Banks Sidewinder Turbo System is much easier than installing a Stroker kit which involves complete removal of the engine.

» The system comes with detailed instructions as well as all the necessary parts to complete the installation.

» Runs on 91 octane or higher

I have my kit sitting in the garage ready for install hopefully this weekend. For those that are interested, I ordered mine through Under Cover Fabworks, $2830 shipped to my door.

I have the oil return bung welded into the oil pan already and a one part of the exhaust cut, sparkplugs changed.

I have a friend with a Rimmer Supercharger on his '05 LJ and with the 4.88's and 35's combo, it drives like it should instead of struggling on every little grade.

I can't wait.

locrwin,

Please keep us posted on your install. Does it require you to run different plugs, or were you just making sure you had anew set?

Will do. I need to update my "build" thread (I haven't updated much after starting the post). The instructions suggest installing new "factory" plugs before installing the kit. I decided to upgrade to the iridium versions, just for the piece of mind on not having to deal with them for a really long time.

Another question:

Do you think you could use a Snorkel for the cold air intake?

I don't see why you couldn't use whatever intake you wanted, there doesn't seem to be anything unique about the one supplied. I will NOT be installing the hood snorkle part. I am in the middle of installing an AEV highline kit, which just got painted, so there is no way I am going to chop up or otherwise damage my new hood.

What iridium spark plug are you going to use? I installed a set of Bosch iridium plugs and made a noticeable difference over the champions I had before.

you wont be able to run the scoop with the AEV kit anyway, you'll just have to modify the inlet of the air box a bit.

I installed Autolite XP985 Xtreme Performance Iridium plugs. They were highly recommended, so that is why I went with them. The good news is that the old plugs that I took out were absolutely textbook perfect. I couldn't believe how good they looked and that made me feel good about the motor, of course it only has 30k miles.

That's kind of what I thought, but thank you for confirming it. How much of a mod did you have to do to the Banks airbox?

I would love to see someone with a Scangage monitor the IAT while under a long pull on boost. I am talking about a long climb through a pass. With no charge cooler the temps are going to spike, and the piggy back controller is going to have to pull timing to keep the pistons from melting or detonating into sherds.

I am sure it is fun for reasonably short blasts.

Why choose this over a supercharger?

Turbo lag is often annoying on a street car, but on a Jeep that lives its life in the lower RPMs, I imagine it feeling like a punishment.
