jk advice needed

earlier this week i picked up a new jk unlimited sport with the 6 speed manual and towing package :wings: i tried telling myself that id at least wait until spring before i made any modifications, but as im sure most of you can understand that just isnt happening lol. this isnt my first jeep but its been at least 6yrs since ive actually built one. im sure alot has changed as well as alot of new companies. needless to say any advice is greatly appreciated.

the jeep will be serving as both my daily driver and off-road/adventure vehicle so this wont be an extreme build by any means. my goals are to keep the on road ride and handling as good as stock but still be able to get out there and handle tackling moderate trails.

what suspension lift would you guys recomend to comfortably fit 35's without any trimming? i dont really want to break the bank on the lift, but i do want a quality system that has great road manners and still function well off-road.

beautiful clean slate you got there. im running a rustys 2" spring lift. and i get some rubbing when i really flex it out, but otherwise its great and rides better than stock. and its on sale right now for $310. great deal http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/mercha...&Product_Code=RK-200B-JK&Category_Code=JKKITS they say 33"s but im running true 35"s.

congrats on the new JK. The major manufactures of Lifts for the JK are,

Full Traction
Tereflex
Currie

There are several others to. I use Full-traction. To run 35's with no trimming, you'll need about a 3" lift.

leman thanks for the info. love how your jeep looks those 35's seem to fit perfect with the 2" lift. i am definately going to have to check into rustys.

I've read some good things on Rock Krawler's new 2.5" Max Travel lift. Uses progressive springs to get the same flex/articulation as a 3.5" but with a lower COG, great for more of a multi-use expedition/DD vehicle you have in mind, I would think.

I've used both the short arm 3" lift and now the long arm 4" and both have been great on road and off.

I would be really tempted to look at an AEV kit. They make some really nice setups without getting overboard.

hey congrats on the heep man, i just picked up one myself after 25 yrs of xj's its a big change,, i have the same questions as you, my hardcore wheeling days are behind me, and i now wish to keep it to the ''expedition thing '', i want the d/d but also want to be able to handle anything that happens to get in the way,, cuz its fun,,,, i will be watching this thread with great intrest

I had heard good things as well about the Rock Krawler lift. I just purchase the 2.5" lift with Bilstein shocks. I hope to install it soon.

I would look at the AEV 3.5" Premium kit. If anything, it improves upon the stock ride and handling imho. Maybe a tad firmer though. Well engineered and you won't find many complaints with it except for it being a little pricey. There's a 4.5" version should you want to go bigger too.

But there's a ton of choices, TF, Currie and RK being three others I would certainly consider.

thanks gasman love the color on your jeep. i was really tempted to go for a rubicon but they are a bit more then i was really willing to spend especially since im going to have to go back to school for a new career. sounds like we have the same mindset of still wanting to go have fun just not as hardcore as before. looking forward to see how your jeep comes together=

rock krawler is definately on my short list...id love to hear your impressions of the kit when you get it instaled

i really like the AEV 3.5" premium the only thing keeping me from going with them is the price. is the AEV kit really worth the price?

the other lift ive been looking at is the polyperformance 3" starter kit.

the pluses i see for the polyperformance and rock krawler kit is that both are upgradable and dont need to throw everything from your old lift away if you decide to upgrade.
