It's the single greatest creation in the history of Jeepdom.
If for nothing else, Mario and Martyn are elevated to iconic status for this.

I see no reason why a version couldn't be created for 2 door versions and earlier TJ's as well. :D I love my Jeep but I can't sleep in it and frankly I'm getting too old to sleep on the ground in an often hostile climate - not to mention being down low in the food chain. I always eye the roof rack options to mount a RTT and plot what trail ready vehicle would replace my TJ so as to sleep in it as well.

I walk and bicycle to the office, putting next to no miles on my Jeep outside winter months that aren't recreation related so I could conceivably own it forever if such an obvious product solution were available.

Ya know.. It would be handy for me as well. My TJ gets about the use yours does and its also what I use for the SAR dog stuff. being able to sleep in it and not always have to drag my trailer with me would be worth the price of buying another hard top.

Hmm, maybe after I get like 4 other projects out of the way I'll take a swing at this with the NidaCore gods...

Indeed Martyn and Mario are now official Jeep saints.

I love my LJ as well and have put more money into it than I care to admit however a JK with the AT Flip Top will be vastly superior to my LJ for travel with friends and family. My plan is to keep the LJ and set it up for 2 person fast and light travel only by permanently removing the backseat. A new JK with with the flip top will then become the vehicle of choice for 2+ travel or for long duration solo trips where comfort and convenience become more of a factor.

I too have been hoping for a diesel in the JK, but the new Pentastar petrol engine confirmed for 2012 will be satisfactory given the increased power and fuel economy verses the current engine. My primary goal is driving range and the new engine combined with an auxiliary fuel tank from Long Ranger in Australia should give a range of close to 600 miles. That should be enough for just about any destination world wide.
