The dust is finally settling from OVX...literally, you know what I mean if you were there :Wow1:
The tent and rear awning by NEMO are prototypes. As in all prototyping, the goal is to learn and refine towards perfection. NEMO brings unique world class experience to the table for the Habitat and we look forward to what the future holds for an incredible fabric structure on the Habitat.
In the meantime, Ursa Minor Vehicles with whom we have been working collaboratively on the project and designed composite structure, is refining aspects of the hinges, torsion rod and interior finish. The NEMO JK shown at OVX represents the 2nd generation working shell prototype. While it is significantly better than the 1st, there is still more to do and we do not want to release it into production until we are satisfied that it meets the standard of excellence that you have come to expect from AT & UMV.
The prototype awning currently zips into the rear of the tent. It is stored away in a separate stuff sack that accommodates the poles. In its current configuration, it would be possible to crack open the top without fully deploying it and zip the awning structure to it. The set up time was under 5 minutes. Consideration has also been given to making it also attach to the sides of the tent. Any thoughts on this?
