JK to receive new V6 in 2012 (at last)

I drove an '11 today, and it feels bigger inside than my '08. I really like what they've done with the interior. It definitely still needs more power though.

You guys need to wise me up.

My new jeep is a 95 Wrangler with a 4.0 I like the inline six. It has tons of low RPM low end torque. That lets me crawl or putt off road and on raggedy dirt roads very nicely. I'm also told they last forever. What's bad about this that a V6 will be an improvement?

Now I admit this new jeep to me is all that and a bag of chips because I compare it to my older jeep which is a bone stock 1942 Willy's MB which has a flat head four and a three speed.

Also IMHO jeeps aren't supposed to have tops.

Emissions.
The 4.0 is a legend.
The V6 is an inferior motor, IMO.

You could buy an 2.4ltr (not 2.5) SE TJ & swap on an SRT4 Manifold, turbo & ecu. For all intents & purposes, it's the same motor.
I agree on the CTD, a 4BT would be perfect - if it weighed 300lbs less :)
I'll take a fire breathing V8 over an oil burner I4.
Alas, I have a V8 TJ.

srt4 computer uses a slightly different language than the jeep 2.4 motor. You can swap on the turbo, but you can't take full advantage of the boost. I think like 10psi is max unless you use a stand-along or piggy-back controller. The turbo manifold from the srt4 needs to be flipped over with a special adapter if I remember right to fit in the TJ chassis.

I would run right out and buy a JK if you could get the diesel or the hemi. Diesel would be my first choice....but the hemi would be fun!
