journalists drive the 2016 Tacoma

While journalists and bloggers are restricted from posting their critical observations about the Tacoma for a couple more days, some videos without comment are appearing. Here's an example, showing how Crawl Control works in several settings.

Getting unstuck from that fine gravel was pretty cool....no exiting the vehicle and positioning maxtrax involved...:)

Interested to know more about than truck as well. I'm debating parting with my 2010 tundra for the new taco or keeping it for another 3-5 years. They payload stated above is higher then my capacity of the tundra. According to the dot sticker on the door , I only have a payload of 1390lbs. Could really use a few extra pounds of payload when hauling around all my diver gear

I like that it's painted desert tan. can you get it in a matte finish?

You seriously don't want a Matte finish. EVERY flaw shows. Gloss metallic is where its at for hiding scratches.

I saw a tan Access Cab Off-Road just outside of Issaquah, WA yesterday. Looked like it handled stop and go traffic like the previous models...
Please tell us non Taco owners what you mean.

Most Tacos are daily drivers...most are never taken off road. Its poking fun at the "mall crawler" crowd.

Thanks for the correction about the off-road features new to the 2016 Tacoma. The 2015 TRD Off-Road package includes an electronically locking rear differential, hill-start assist, downhill-assist control, and active traction control (A-TRAC). It's the 4Runner that has had multi-terrain select for a couple of years. In 2016 it comes to the Tacoma.

Does the 2015 have hill start assist with the manual? It would be way helpful offroad (and when the girlfriend is driving). I had it on my BMW and even though I thought I'd hate it, I ended up loving it.

Meaning: Welcome to Western Washington Journalists. Enjoy the traffic. Kinda like the San Diego 405 Sepulveda Pass on any given day. With probably similar heat, so I hope Toyota figured out the whole AC thing, cuz your gonna be sitting for a while. Actually, to be honest, it looked pretty plasticy...

What problems are you having with the Tundra?

Intake whistle that makes dogs run and annoys the crap out of me. sounds like a bad ground. Toyota says: normal.
Stereo "buffering" components record/replay static and popping sounds. Toyota says: normal

Dealer has been good, I guess. The lead tech agrees it's BS, but Toyota has wiped their hands of issues.

Not to mention (and this is on me),. they got rid of ALL internal storage except the center console... which if you want a tray, costs $40-60 extra.

But at least the mileage sucks.

Oh - my wife's Japan-assembled 4Runner. Simply awesome. Fit and finish, no electrical issues - everything is top notch.

My 2013 Tacoma is quirky for sure. Bed rattles like crazy, brakes are very touchy, idles too high. No interior storage really stinks. AC works great though.

I agree about the tundra. My 2012 had so many problems, I finally just sold it.

It's crossed my mind... For an f150 ecoboost (spent 4 days in one last week... Wow)... Or... If it wouldn't be so weird... Another 4runner. Lol.

We really do need a full size truck, though.

scratches don't bother me none, it's nature's pinstrippin'
I told the salesman at a dealership once after he had gone through all the fancy features that cost a crapton of $

P2W,"Ok, that's cool I guess"
salesman, "Well that all helps the resale value when you trade it in"
P2W, "When I get done with it you won't want it back."

Wish I could like this.
