Good looking 3rd Gen! I'm curious to see what the interior looks like when you finish. After having a 1st gen with the bench and switching to buckets I think buckets are the way to go for sure. The bench is nice if you ever have to carry a 3rd person, but its awkwardly tight. Have you run the serial numbers on it yet to see if your 3.0L was effected by the head gasket issues?

I got a few pictures today of the vinyl floor interior, this stuff is super thick and not very easy to work with, a heat gun would probably take out any creases left but I haven't cared enough to do anything about it yet.

De-stingered

Well I did end up cutting off the stinger, I like the look way better. I cut it off with a sawsall and ground the welds off,
hit it real quick with some sandpaper and shot some cheap rattlecan truck bed coating on it. It isnt perfect but its only a bumper.
I will have to get some better pictures when i remount the hellas tomorrow.

Thanks guys! I definitely like the cleaner look much better, got the lights remounted today.

So I have noticed lately my truck puts off somewhat of an odor, either straight out of the exhaust or out of the engine bay
After a nice long drive. Truck thermostat never gets hot, always is slightly below halfway when fully warmed up. But the engine bay always seems to be holding excessive heat after drives and I make out a smell somewhat like the rotten egg=bad cat discussion I have read.
Seems my exhaust is all stock, my truck has 117,000 miles on it. I know the 3.0 isn't the best engine so I don't really want to drop a lot of cash into it for headers/full exhaust but I do believe I have a ton of miles left on this engine and would like to make the best of it.
Would you all recommend replacing the cat and a magnaflow or similar style muffler, sticking to stock or what?

The underhood temps seem to be way more than they should, almost to the point where I would consider a hood scoop to introduce more cool air to the engine bay. Anyways I would love to hear your thoughts/opinions on exhaust options/routes you might go. Thanks!

Considering your truck has low miles, HG replacement and no rust, the aftermarket headers and exhaust might not be a bad idea, especially since you're running oversize tires that rob power.
I'd want to figure out the potential overheating problem first though. Maybe it's not just a bad cat.

Well honestly it might not even be a problem, I come from jeeps, where there's so much room under the hood you could sit on the inner fender while working on the truck. The toyota has so much packed under the hood I can imagine there's not much of an escape for that heat. I've read that the stock manifold has a poorly designed crossover that ends up holding the heat close to cylinder 6, which is usually a problematics cylinder with the HG issues and burnt exhaust valves.
The trucks cooling system is working properly, I've never had it even get a touch warm on me. On the way to colorado we drove 14 hours in it and never had a single problem.
I'm just confused as to my the ambient temperature under the hood seems to get so warm? I'm sure it could be something other than the exhaust, just from my reading and searching and the fact of it being stock still, I was assuming that was the most likely suspect.

Thanks guys!

Can anyone help me get in contact with waterboy222 on here? He has a wildernest for sale pretty close to me but he isn't receiving my PM's and I have not been able to get ahold of him. Would love to pickup the nest for my pickup!!

WILDERNEST. yes.

Waterboy222 hooked me up with my new wildernest! he was needing it out of his driveway and he gave me an incredible deal. He was awesome to work with and he has some stinkin great toys. Thanks again Waterboy222! The nest will get plenty of use I promise!!

I got the nest pulled off and soaking in the tub in a mild soap. Took this time to paint the tent poles and deep clean the rest of the shell and components. The owner before waterboy seam sealed all the seams and replaced most the screws with stainless so theres not much for me to do! One side window is busted and the rear window shocks are blown but other wise the nest will clean up really well! So excited to use it!
Heres a pic of the framing without the tent fabric installed.

ready to have it cleaned up for this spring!

Beautiful truck man! The single cab life is so hard to love, but it's so worth it! You'll enjoy your tube doors this summer!
