Jumping Jack Trailer......build?

Reviving a thread since I am picking up one used this coming saturday! I've been camping out of the tacoma with drawer solution and engel for years with the wife but now that we have a 1 year old we decided we needed something else to encourage us to get out with him. After hemming and hawing between a JJ and somerset evolution, we finally decided on the JJ because 1) we will sell our very nice atv/utility trailer (echo, also made in utah) and this can haul the zodiac/dirtbike/crap 2) a used offroad pop up like the coleman E3 is nearly 3,000lbs and people want 8-10k for something 5 years old let alone 15k+ for a new one that youmight use 12 times a year 3) the offroad toy hauling popups are nearly 22 feet long and won't fit in the garage so we'd be paying to store something outside at $500 a year which is just dumb.

So while the new price at 6k hurts, and with accessories, it can easily be 7-8k before you're done, we finally found one used in nearly brand new shape for 5k that would have been $7200 + tax from sportsman's warehouse with all the accessories. Lots of mods planned like putting the engel and a deep cell on the tongue, getting it set up to be able to haul the zodiac on top, but mostly just looking forward to having a wife approved "tent" solution to get out for overnights with our 13 month old! I'll probably start a new build thread when I pick it up but the seller took the best pictures I've seen so thought I'd post them up for people who were curious. Its strange how poor/few pictures there are of the JJ's on the web.

Questions for Scott (or anyone else with an answer)- when you went to larger tires - did you replace the rims with something of the same bolt pattern? If so, what size/offset? What size tires did you go with? I'd love to use the same BFG AT's as on my truck to save on needing another spare
but I'm sure there are all the typical issues to be dealt with clearance in the fenders, possibly needing to actually lift the bed from the axle for more clearance, hubs the right pattern to match your truck, etc. JJ is now selling a smaller more offroad oriented trailer that they actually sell a lift kit bracket for, so they might have the answers for me if I harass them but thought someone here might know.

Any other tips people have for me as must-do's after pick up?

Looks Nice...also looking forward to your build.

I purchased a used 2009 JJ from another member this past spring. It had been sitting outside not covered for quite sometime according to the information I received before buying. I purchased the trailer knowing that the tent was shot and needed replacement. This was a bit of a job but not too bad. JJ does sell the replacement tents.

Long story short, make sure you use your trailer. Closed up and moisture will kill it quickly.

We have enjoyed our JJ. Great for three of us.

Picked up the JJ this weekend on a ten hour cannonball run. Set it up the next day and no surprises on condition which is great. Trailer has powder coat chipped in all the spots you'd expect from metal on metal but I'm very happy with used condition. Even tires have some tread left but are definitely first on the list for replacement. Tommorrow I'll post pictures and list of everything I got with price and start my build thread. Super excited about it, fits the zodiac perfectly and just right to take out the 1 year old I hope!

I have the lifetime version and absolutely love it. We have probably spent 25 nights sleeping in it over the last year. We have towed it over 10k miles.
We wanted a JJ, but cost was out issue. We found our LT for ~1500 new.

Yea, even used the cost was hard to swallow but compared to an off-road style pop up $5k is cheap over the next five years!

Nellans, I think you will find that the powder coat is the weak point on the JJ's. It seems that I always have the can of Rustoleum to touch it up. Congrats on your purchase looking forward to the build.

Definitely!!! When I had mine, I ended up sandblasting the entire trailer and repainting it. It never rusted after that. I also extended the tongue 4" and welded Kayak racks on the top.

Hey jnich.....are you from FL?

When I bought my JJ there was a guy from FL on here that had a highly customized JJ. I think he exteneded his and many other mods.

As soon as I bought my JJ and looked for the thread it was gone. Had some great ideas.
