Hey guys let me answer all the questions in one post.
This is a Go Pro Hero camera. This particular model is the Motorsport Wide which includes all the accessories in the 2nd picture which are:
2 Flat mounting bases(adhesive backs)
2 Curved mounting bases (adhesive backs)
3 Clip in mounting arms/brackets
1 Suction cup mount with articulating arm
1 Extender for suction cup mount
1 Waterproof and Shock resistent housing (waterproof up to 100 feet!!)
Additional adhesive backs not pictured.
It runs on 2 AAA batteries (says to use Lithium or NiMH not Alkaline)
You can increase the volume by removing the rubber seal on the housing and/or turning the volume from LO to Hi. Recommends removing the seal and leaving on LO for vehicle use. I have not experimented with this yet but will this weekend.
It uses SD Memory cards not Compact Flash. I used the Compact Flash card simply as a size reference. Supports 2 GB SD which is good for 56 Minutes of video time. The site says there is a 4 GB SDHC card coming out soon that will increase time to 1 hr 52 minutes. I plan to just pick up additional 2 GB cards when there is good sales. I do not plan on doing more than 10-15 minutes at a time max.
For the short video I made it was on with just the suction cup mount placed near the left windshield wiper. I am thinking of drilling a hole through one of the adhesive mounts and mounting to the bumper just for added security. Would hate for it to fall off especially if it is in an area where I cannot see it.
I am going to take it to the fireworks show this weekend and do a little wheeling with it on Sunday down in the Sierra Estrellas near I-8. I'll post more videos next week.
The package I got (Go Pro Hero Motorsport Wide) was $199.00 which did not include batteries or memory cards. Worth a shot compared to $800 for a decent small HD Camcorder.
This is obviously not of that quality but if it breaks in a year or on a trail $200 is easier to deal with than $800.
