could you give the short version how you got there? usually anyone who says a test is "easy" put in the time & effort to make it so.

and not to muddy the waters, but do you also have a CB?

thanks

I do have a cb. I studied about 10 hours total. I picked up a book that walks you through everything you need to know. It was a big help. I also used the practice test found online and even made a few flashcards for some of the areas I kept forgetting.

Congrats on your ticket!

(FYI: I just put up a good deal for a radio in the for sale section: Expo Equip)

Welcome to a beautiful Hobby/service. I hope you enjoy it as many of us do!!!

A friendly recommendation that was given to me once and I always try to pass on: Please watch the operating ethics. After all this is the time and place where all humanity sits at the same table and shares his/her time with you.

I got my technician ticket about 6 months ago. I wasn't in a hurry to get it so I took my time studying. I did a lot of poking around online and got the bug so I buckled down a decided to study. I bought the ARRL book off of Amazon and read it most mornings on my train commute to work. I read it slow to absorb. Not so much to pass the test but also understand the hobby as about 3/4 of the material was new to me. The book has practice tests and I'd read through those as well. I used the practice tests on QRZ and those were nice too. I'd take tests 1-10 and then 5-15, then 10-20, etc just to make sure I had it down.

While studying I found a good deal on a radio here on EXPO and bought it. I set it up in my garage and would listen while I hung out in there. I think that too helped me as the guys on there have been hams for a long time. They actually talked about testing and whatnot. I passed my test 100% and have been enjoying the hobby. Different people get something different out of it but it fits my bill and I've only explored a little bit of amateur radio.

Congrats.
