Kia Sorento on Mojave Rd

My friend just bought a Kia Sorento and wants to know if it can make it through the Mojave Rd in stock form. Hopefully someone who know the Sorento and has been on the Mojave Rd can answer better then me.

Yes, I think so, but there are portions that are some nice deep river wash sand, so airing down is definitely advised. There really aren't any challenges on the trail, other than 120 miles of gravel and dust. Many 2WD vehicles run this trail without difficulties. Please make sure he has a full size spare and air compressor, and this time of the year, a whole bunch of water!

I know it's not the same area you're asking about, but these guys in Australia took a Kia Sorrento (turbo diesel) thru all of the famous tracks on the East Coast of Australia. It turns out that the Sorrento keeps up just fine. It has an OME suspension lift, and I don't think it has any lockers.

I would think so. I would upgrade the tires if possible. (not sure what it has from the factory)

Sorento

I just bough a 2008 Sorento LX 4x4. I am thinking about making a Expedition vehicle with it.

Lets us know how he does on the Mojave Rd.

Easy!

My friend did the Mojave Road in a Subaru Brat which has tiny tires and very little clearance under the body.

Like nwoods said, air the tires down and he'll be fine.

It will do just fine. I have an 06. Check out Sierra Expeditions they have lifts for it and other stuff. Rocky Road Outfitters makes REAL side skids for it. (I have some) that are really good. I have done some good long trips and it has allways done just fine. It has a box frame and four low. Good tires make it trail worthy. The only thing I have found I dont like about it is I cant find a locker for it. Other than that it is an awesome rig. I really like showing up to group gathering and not being the same. Its kinda cool. Keep me updated on your build up.

I have posted some pictures here if you want to see what I have done so far.

I worked with Rocky Road to make the skids. I am working on some belly skids for it now so I hope to have something soon.
