KM2's on national Backorder??

Okay, how about some details why you love them so much? Anything you don't like?

That is too bad that they are on back order. I can tell you from personal experience they are well worth the wait. I have them on my Frontier and love them. So much so we are going to put a set on the FJ as well. I had to wait for mine as well. Then again I was ordering them before they even hit any of the tire shops here in AZ. Good luck finding some!

Honestly, I can't think of anything that I dislike other than they weight about 5 Tons per tire haha. For the way I use and abuse them though, that is a good thing. I have had them in everything I can think of thus far, sand, mud, snow, ice, heavy rain, major rocks, high-speed-dirt, and lots of pavement. I expected them to do great in the mud, so no surprise there. I really like lots of technical rock-crawling trails, and have had them on a number of pretty nasty trails. The sidewalls are tough and take a beating for the rocks. They bite hard and get traction on just about anything I point them at. I thought they were going to chunk really bad given the large voids in the tread pattern, but they have not done so. They did way better than I expected they would in soft sand as well as snow and ice. Much better than the previous KMs which I have had a set of. They did well on a few high speed dirt road and had excellent latteral traction around turns. I have had them for about 10,000 miles now and rotate them every 3,000 miles. They are wearing great and do very well in heavy rain on pavement. They sound like an MT on the highway but they are not as loud as the KMs. Not sure what else I can say other than they are the best set of tires I have had yet.

Regarding the 33x10.5x15 size:

Onlinetires.com is out of stock as well as tirerack.com & 4wheelparts :(

I called discount, I knew they were out of stock, but I had him search around. There is one set of 4 in Cali being shipped to a buyer elsewhere. That's it. He called BFG directly and they said they don't show any in production for the next 4 weeks. I asked what that meant. He said they can only "view" 4 weeks ahead in the schedule, so in another week they can see another week out, etc...this may not be entirely true, read on....

He said that with that type of system they might never build them again, but his contact won't ever know with 100% certainty. However 4wheel parts showed a "tenative" release date of June 1st ("...but it could be later" said the 4wp sales rep) but at least that means that they will be in production again eventually.

I don't HAVE to have tires right now, but this backorder situtation has me thinking that I'd be wise to order before I HAVE to have them. Anyway, I think I can wait another month or two, but not much longer. So, since I can't wait "indefinitely" for my tires; if these aren't released by the mid/end of May, I will likely be going with another brand. It's too bad though, with all of the good reviews these tires have recieved, I was really hoping to try them out. I also didn't want to go with 33x12.5x15 but no other mfg (that I know of) makes the 10.5 size and I can't afford to go to 16" wheels, PLUS pay the upcharge for 16" tires (they always seem to cost more), as it is I will have to buy wheel spacers like these to fit the 12.5's :(

So if these aren't released by mid/end of May I'll probably be going with Hankook Dynapro MT RT03 as an alternative. I've read a lot of good reviews about these also and a few Discount stores have some in stock and the price is comparable to the KM2's.

Before you ask: "Why you don't just go with 33x12.5.x15 KM2's?"......the price is about $130 more for a set of 5 and my budget is way too tight to squeeze out another $130. I know it sounds stupid, but I have about 5 projects/items I'm saving for right now, so I'm stretching things really thin.

EDIT: I suppose I go with the BFG AT's. I know their good, but it seems like a big step backwards.

I just bought a set of 235/85R16 KM2's for $172 each at my local tire store in Roswell, GA - they got them from the BFG warehouse in one day. The tire rack price was $168 each plus shipping.

They're quiet and look good - I'll be giving them the off-road test at Uhwarrie next month.

I like it when people say these new KM2s are quiet (for an MT).

Thanks for the lead, I'm tracking it now.

I agree about the quiet comment. I'm going more off of the "Quieter than the previous BFG MT KM's". That holds more meaning to me since I have a well worn and rotated set.

I just bought a set as well last week, great tire and it makes my disco look way better.:wings: Even the costco near me is selling the KM2s (but way over priced).

Well I got ahold of casanova4x4 once and Carlos said they had two sets of 33x10.5x15's left. I had to hang up with him so I could transfer the funds. That was at 12:00 today and now I can't get ahold of him again. Hopefully I can get ahold of them before someone else snags these.

OK, I got ahold of Carlos and ordered 5 :wings: :wings: :wings:

A bit more than the Pirate4x4 page listing from January @ $186ea shipped. Decent price for an otherwise unobtainable item.

Congratulations, nothing like obtaining something that’s hard to get and at a great price.

Cheers :)
