I have owned this bike for almost three years and it has been a joy to ride. A perfect bike for serious exploration, including the Trans-America Trail or the Shadow of the Rockies. It would be at home in Baja or Copper Canyon or destinations further south. High-quality upgrades performed, totaling over $5,000. It runs strong (as expected), but has also been used on the trail, so there are some minor scratches, etc. It is an Overland Journal project bike and was featured at the SEMA show in 2009. Also featured in the pages of MotoUSA magazine for our Trans-America Trail adventure.

Why am I selling it? I do not have any long trips planned on a moto for the next year (at least), so I plan to purchase a smaller KTM, like a 530 for short trips around Prescott and more technical riding.

Modifications:
Complete Super Plush S Suspension Upgrade
Pirelli Scorpion XC-HD Tires
Black Dog Cycleworks Skid Plate (brand new)
Delorme PN-20 GPS on Ram Mount
Heated Grips
Factory Crash Guards
Hepco and Becker Headlight Rock Guard
Touratech 30mm bar risers
Wide Pegs (Hillsamer)
Wings Titanium Exhaust
Hepco and Becker Luggage Mounts
Hepco and Becker Alu Standard Side Cases with quick disconnects
Hepco and Becker Alu Standard Top Case with quick disconnect
Deka AGM Battery
High Fender

Also Includes:
Pirelli Scorpion AT tires F&R (Near new)
Factory skid plate
Factory Tools
Factory Manuals
Water pump repair kit

Repairs Completed:
New fuel pump about 2,000 miles ago
Full valve adjustment and full service made 2,000 miles ago

Any known Issues:
Clutch went soft- bled and filled with mineral oil, no current issues.
Some paint delamination on tank
Several small cosmetic scratches and paint wear
Wings exhaust has some scratches and a small dent (I think these will be easy to repair if desired).
Some oil seeping from engine case (very light, and not due to impact)
This bike was used on the trail, including the Trans-America trail, so it is not perfect, but extremely well maintained and with all high-quality modifications, etc. It was dropped on the trail, but never crashed.

EDIT: UPDATED WITH EXACT MILEAGE
EDIT 2: PRICE DROP TO $7,800

How tall are you Scott? I'm a lovable 5'8 but find adventure bikes a tough fit. Even the BMW 800GS is a bit tall.

The 950 Adventure is about 2 1/2" taller (at the seat) than the 800GS.

950A = 36" seat height, 800GS = 33.5 (with the OEM low seat).

Keep in mind that the 800GS low seat is really wide, making it feel taller than it is.

I can say that I'm 5'11" and Scott;s bike fit me great. It is a tall bike, but those 5'10" and up should be find without the lowering kit. Those shorter should google or search advrider for the lowering linkage. I think it's an inexpensive fix.

I am 5'8" and ride a black KTM adventure 950.
It was a bit intimidating at first but now I am totally fine. I had a XR650L before which was pretty tall too.

I wouldn't take it on a pure dirt track though - not so much because of the height but because of the weight. On paved/fired road it's totally okay.

I absolutely adore my 950 Adventure. I am so glad I bought it.
Unlike Scott, I don't think I will ever sell it.

That is the beauty of the 950. It all just depends on how you set it up. It can go from single-track boulder hoping to track days.

For those who haven't ridden a KTM 950, it's an amazing bike. Having ridden this one, I can easily say it is just jaw dropping how good it is off pavement. I didn't know I could ride in sand until I rode this bike, and it's absolutely flawless at speed on washboard roads....

That is a nicely set up 950!

For those who don't know the 950's capability, the Rubicon photo is from a guy I ride with, Riceless950. He goes places with it that make me want to take my XR400 instead of the G650X. Amazing bikes! With a good rider they can go places you would not be able to take any other big bike...and places some would think twice about going with a big thumper.

If I had the $ I would buy it in a heartbeat. :bike_rider:

I'll have to see how the next couple of months go, if it's still for sale by that time, I'll be in touch!

Awesome bike!

Bump...cause I was just thinking about how much a pita my 1150 is to ride in the sand...and how sweet this bike is in the sand.
