The other bugger is the flapper is required in CA to pass smog. Some techs look passed it. It's from back in the days to prevent people from using leaded fuel in their unleaded vehicle as leaded fuel was cheaper. Of course, they had to remove their cats to run the leaded fuel too.

I'm currently looking for an OEM filler neck...

There's a company back east that sells the flapper to put down inside. That's what i did and i pass visual every time. PM me if you want the info on it, i have to dig up my invoice.

Do you have a picture of it installed? My filler neck is not quite cylindrical so I'm not so sure that would work. Worth a try though.

Correct, that's the one i have. I just dug up my invoice from 2007.

I don't have a pic of it installed.. but you can use your imagination. It doesn't seem like the right fit for ours either, but when i put it in and jammed it down inside like instructed... it fit perfect. The teeth grab and make shape with the filler tube. It's never coming out either.
