+1 to air and a shovel. Lowering to 18 or 15 or even lower will do wonders. Then just air up a bit when you can. There is almost always _something_ to throw under the tires if you need some traction - sticks, a car mat, rocks, etc. And if you really dig yourself into a hole, jack yourself up, put sand under, and drive off. If you are really going to be in sand a LOT, like in the Sahara, then tracks will probably save you some time, but for the occasional sand, they are not, IMO, worth it. I've been all through Australia and the deserts of Southern Africa and have never once felt the need for tracks. Having said all that, I sure would like to hear from someone who has experience with tracks and carries them as to why they like them - if there is something I missing I would like to know.
