Land Rover Pickup?

So, Ive been weighing ideas of what to get. An SUV and a trailer or an SUV with a RTT or a pickup with a Flip Pac...all have their advantages and disadvantages and since it is going to be me and just one other person 99% of the time, I am leaning more towards a truck and a Flip Pac attached. A truck can carry a lot of gear and is rated to carry the gear and the weight not too mention a lower COG and no worries about possible liability of hauling the trailer.

Ive been spending some time knocking around the typical sites for a diesel powered (a must) LR truck but have come up with a few questions about them. Spent some time on Rovers Out East and they have two trucks there. One is a typical truck with a specific bed attached to the frame and the other is also a pick up but looks more like what the Australians would call a Ute. Is the Ute one just a half cab top placed on a 110 body? How common are the two of these models?

The 110 "regular" is more common than the 110 "hicap" below.

As land rover is basically just a big mechano set, you can swap beds around. I have been looking for a 110 regular bed for years, but nothing local has shown up.

A PU with a Fourwheel Camper would be a great combo but the COG would be a little higher and the cost would be higher. It would make for a very nice and comfortable set up though.

If you look close you can see the bed is longer in the hi-cap (white one) that was a different model. The top one could have easily been a 3 door 109 originally and switched to a pickup later, hard to tell as they are pretty much the same thing.

lost, but making time
One can also see that the HCPU bed (white one) is separate from the cab, rather than how the top one looks. I just learnt about that, yesterday :)

Agree that it could easily have been a converted one and that HCPUs are hard to find here...

Yeah, thats what I wanted to know about. The blue one looks like a 109 with a half cab, kind of like what people do to the 88's to make a really small pick up. The white one looks more like a traditional pickup with the cab and front clip seperate from the bed. I guess any 109/ 110 3 door can be converted to pick up body or back to a station wagon?

Yep! You will need to source a tail gate and hardware as well if you want the full kit.

I happen to have two trucks in the above configuration currently inbound. They are both tdi's (1 200tdi and 1 300tdi) and both have been refurbished... pm me if interested.

Selfish plug off :)

What they look like when they are kitted out a bit.....

Wow, this does look great. The 130 double cabs are pretty cool but Im not too keen on them for some reason. Not too sure why and I know that I am in the minority with that decision...
