Who makes the nicest RUGGED laptop case? I have been eyeing up the Pelican one. Does any one else make something along those lines? Maybe a little cheaper?:mixed-smiley-030:

I think you'll get your $'s worth out of either of these cases. I'm not convinced that saving $ here is a worthwhile investment, because if you need the case to be sturdy, then you need the case to be built well.
Check out the Premier issue of Overland Journal...it has a nice column on the Pelican laptop case...look up the Journal website and download the pdf sample Overland Journal
The Pelican case is very impressive. See if you can locate one in a store to check it out in person. That will probably sell you on it. Be aware that with a good-sized laptop inside, the combined weight is pretty hefty. You may feel like James Bond carrying it into a cafe
If you need any specific detail pics or measurements, send me a PM or email.
I ended up going with the "Storm Case" It has more room inside for all the wires that go with a "Wireless" Laptop. Plus I can fit my Garmin Topo CD's in there as well. I can fit my external HD in there too. Should be here next week. Thanks for all your input!
I shopped around for a case that would fit my new laptop. The iM2400 Storm case was the one that fit the closest. Pelican cases were too narrow. Once wide enough they were pretty deep. Three times the case I needed.
We use Pelican cases quite a bit in emergency services. I have no eqperiences with Storm. Hope it is good.
HPRC, an Italian brand of injection molded cases just released a new 15" laptop case with a first of its kind second waterproof compartment for holding your phone, iPod, small external hard drive, keys, etc. The second compartment is approximately 1" deep and accessible through a small door that can be locked. If you use blue tooth with your phone or iPod, it will work through the closed door.
Of course, I'm affiliated with the company so you'll want to do your homework before taking my word for it. But I think once you do, you'll really like this unique case.
