larger tires for a 2wd E350

Hi, i have a 06 E350 15 pass van that has a 2 inch coil spring lift and looking at changing out the factory aluminum wheels and tires to something bigger. I have seen people using the 265 size tires but has anybody run anything bigger say up to a 285 without affecting the rsc. Or knowing the max allowable tire height and width to use without doing a 4 wd conversion . Thanks

I've seen 285's on a van with RSC, no RSC issues. Not sure that they'll clear without more lift though.

And welcome to ExPo!

I run 265/75/16 on my 01 E350 no lift and dont rub . I would imagine if you have a 2" lift you could go 1 size bigger.

I also have 265/75 r16 with a 2" front lift with no rubbing. I did have a set of BFG AT's about the same size, but they must have been a tiny bit wider and rubbed a little.

It will really depend on whose 285. Some 285's really only have the same tread width as another's 265's.

Also remember that if you plan to do a 4wd conversion later, you will be changing from inch to metric lug pattern so you would need to replace rims again.

Well there is a plan to do a ujoint conversion on the van but i have put it off for bit. I have a 06 dodge powerwagon that needs a front end rebuild , and since it will be apart it is going to get some suspension upgrades . And the van drives great , dont wanna mess with it for now, but just wanna upgrade the tire/wheels.

Understood, just pointing out you will can't keep the rims. If you find a good deal, you can turn them when you go 4wd for almost the same price.

I also am looking for larger tires for my 95 e350 2wd no lift. I might add front springs or 2" front spacer later. Bbasso's pics are great to actually see which tire your talking about.

My main priority is towing safety as my toyhauler weights 6K# dry up to 10K#. 1200lbs tongue weight. But I also need snow and dirt traction.
Is the 265/75-16 BFG A/T a good choice for highway towing? I will be running interstate speeds easy.
