Last resort fire starter?

I carry those UST Wet Fire cubes with me everywhere. Very small and will start a fire in the wettest of conditions. Also a fan of UCO storm matches.

I quartered a small road flare. Works great. The only issue is that requires a lot of heat to get started. Whatever the striker patch is on top...I couldn’t get it going with a bic but butane lighter did the trick.

Dry cedar kindling from cheap wedges, a bit of paper, water proof matches in a zip lock to keep it all dry.

A good splitting axe helps too, to split stuff down to "dry" insides

Keep it under cover while it gets going and you are fine

You're working too hard and not carrying enough unnecessary junk. It's almost unamerican!

Learned a fun one at a recent bushcraft class.

Vehicle battery + jumper cables + old pencil (expose a little lead/graphite on both ends) + connect jumper cables to each end (positive on one end, negative on the other) = graphite lights up like a light bulb filament and ignites the surrounding pencil wood......kinda cool but, woulda used the cigar lighter first. cheers.
