I’m looking for the right person to buy my gently-used and well-cared-for best-in-class EarthRoamer XV-LT – Expedition Vehicle, Luxury Transportation. You must be self-reliant and adventurous, eager to get off the beaten path and travel to out-of-the-way places as we have during the 21 years we have owned this special and still industry-leading motor home. A week on the beach in Baja – check. A months-long trip to Alaska when we drove on every paved highway in the state (and many unpaved ones as well) – check. Multiple trips across the United States and Canada – check. Camping in the Sierra Mountains near the oldest trees in the world – check. Two weeks in the Yukon Territory in mid-winter to view the northern lights – check. Exploring every corner of the western United States and western Canada – check. We’ve broken it in and put on 98,000 miles – now it’s ready for some real adventures, but we’re too old to do it justice anymore. So we’re looking to pass it on to a worthy new owner who can get the same enjoyment, excitement and appreciation we have from this noble rig.
Did I mention the 800-watt solar panels or the massive 510-amp-hour cabin batteries that can be charged by the sun, the main engine, or shore power? The AC/DC refrigerator that can run for a week from those batteries, or the library-quiet air conditioner that can run all day at 100º? The slide-out pantry, the full shower, the microwave oven? Oh, I almost forgot the 7-foot-square bed over the cab. Full seating with great leg room for four people (and plenty of room for the dog), with 75 cubic feet of storage (that’s like having a 3-foot by 3-foot coat closet that you can fill to the brim). We packed our collapsible 17-foot canoe, with life jackets and paddles, in the upper outside storage compartment and it wasn’t even half full. So, your life in the wilderness will be comfortable no matter where you go, what you take with you, and what you do once you get there. And if that isn’t enough storage for you, this rugged truck will also tow up to 9,000 lbs. on the heavy-duty triple rear hitch.
This unique RV has a single-piece double-layer fiberglass cabin body made using the same construction techniques as Coast Guard rescue boats – no seams, no cracks, no leaks. It’ll last as long as you care to travel in it. Lovingly maintained and upgraded over the years, all systems in this classic are fully functional and ready to go. The fresh water tank holds 80 gallons, dual fuel tanks hold 90 gallons of diesel, and this engine can run on any biodiesel blend you might choose from B5 to B100. Averaging 12 miles per gallon on the highway, you could drive from Portland, Oregon to Zion National Park in Utah, or from New York City to St. Louis, without refueling.
The 6.0L engine has been fully upgraded, with dual alternators and two batteries. You want to see the winter landscape at -10 º – the water tank has a built-in circulating heater that will keep it unfrozen no matter the outside temperature. The cabin heater, hot water heater and cooktop are all marine-grade and run from the truck diesel tanks, eliminating the need for the dangers and annoyance of propane. The kitchen counter and four-foot extension work surface are granite, with a deep inset stainless sink. The toilet uses a cassette that can be emptied at a dump station, into any toilet, or even into a hole in the ground (shovel not included). Also included in the sale are thousands of dollars’ worth of spares and repair parts that we’ve accumulated over the years (including four new road tires) . When you’re traveling through wild lands, you want to be prepared for any eventuality, and this vehicle will get you there and bring you back safely.
Travel wherever you want, stay there in comfort and safety, and come back contented.
