Lens advice needed.

Ok, real quick and easy I think. I've got a Cannon XT camera with the kit lens. At Christmas, I got the EF 50mm f1.8 lens for like $90, and I'm loving it. Love the shallow dept of field. Only problem is, due to the crop factor on my camera, it's a zoomed in fairly good, and can make capturing some subjects hard. I'd love something like a 28mm fast lens for cheap. Anybody make one? I've looked, and came up empty.

Canon makes the 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 that is a pretty sweet lens.

I'd love to have one, but it's one of the EF-S lenses meaning it only attaches to certain bodies. I think your Rebel might be one of those bodies, but check before you go out and buy it.

I have a Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-3.5, but they dont make it anymore. It gives some awesome angles and can really make some interesting photos

Sigma makes a 10-20 that is less expensive than the Canon version, but I've never used it to know of its quality

I just picked up that Canon 10-22 before my last trip. I would not have been able to frame this shot with my 17-55 without stitching a pano.

I need to play with the 10-22 some more to explore other wide angle shooting options but I thought this might give you an idea of what this lens can capture on a crop sensor camera (I shoot with the Canon 50D)

Thanks it was the awesome 10-22 lens. :sombrero: Hiked in while still dark and set up for the shot around 6:30 AM when the sun behind me was just below the horizon.

Hey outa the hundreds I have attempted over the last year one or two had to come out.

Rob, in the world of lenses and wide angles, the 10-22mm is the best bargin going. It's under $1,000, built well, takes phenominal images. There is a thread on POTN with about 200 pages of stellar images shot with this lens. It is one of my favorites. You can find them used for under $500 generally. However, there isn't anything like the Nifty Fifty that you like in terms of price.

Yeah, that's the issue at this point for me. Oh well, I'll keep dreaming.
