OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

yes, I have this too. I resealed it twice and it still has a very small leak. It might be at the hinge where the screws go through the roof. I need to take it completely off and reseal all the holes I think. Anyone know how to remove the skylight? I’m guessing the plastic frame inside needs to come off first but I don’t see where. I don’t want to force anything and break it. It’s not easy to get parts for these trailers. I had to order a replacement doorhandle Directly from AussieTraveler in Australia.

Has anyone experienced leaks in the skylight? Mine drips in heavy rain .. from the grille at the corner of the skylight ... by the on/off switch... I've been up on the roof to inspect... tried pouring on some self-levelling goop I got off amazon ... the drip moved from one corner of the vent to the other! I'm perplexed. Any good solutions to this?

The interior frame comes off by popping off the LED plastic covers and unscrewing the two screws on either side of the LED strips, total of 8 screws. Then you have access to the brackets that hold the vent on.
When I installed mine there was a continuous bead of caulk that I had to apply to form an "interior" seal. This was in addition to all the exterior sealant I applied. I wonder if perhaps this seal is something that people may be having trouble with because I'm sure over time (shipping, etc.), this seal becomes dry or may not have even been applied correctly. Just something you'll probably have to reapply when you reassemble it.

Electrical help:

OBI Dweller Electrical issues:

Summary:

The electrical issues have evolved. At first the trailer worked fine no issues. After a couple trips started to notice issues. Issues in order of occurrence as well as possible correlations:

  • Issue: Some, not all the of the electrical components would stop working about mid-way through the day:
  • Stopped working at the switch: Iceco fridge, water pump, interior lights, toilet, all exterior cabinet/drawer lights, and all but one of the exterior LED lights.
  • Continued working: step switch, awning switch, voltage and amp gauge, Truma screen, Renogy Screen, purple exterior handle light, lower exterior LED light above outside cooking.
  • Remedy: Overnight sleep and try in the morning would all work again. My thought is this had something to do with heat.
Troubleshooting steps:

  • Checked all fuses; Passed
  • Removed fuse panel to check for lose connections; Found lose black wire in connector, see image:
  • View attachment 885034
  • View attachment 885035
  • This wire goes from this connector to a group of 3 other wires I assume are grounds that are screwed to the wall of the trailer.
    • 1 Black wire from busbar
    • 1 black wire from assume battery; cannot find origin comes from inside bundle
    • Above black wire from fuse panel
  • Outcome: This fixed the all the non-working items above except for new issues:
    • Awning just pops fuse now
    • Water pump will not turn on
  • Issue: Water pump will not turn on.
  • Tested water pump continuity to see if power is going from switch to wires of water pump.
    • Result: No power when switch is flipped.
  • Tested water pump by hooking directly to negative and positive battery terminals
    • Result: Water pump turns on
  • Test switch by exchanging the switch with a working switch (Fridge)
    • Result:
      • Water pump does not turn on with fridge switch
      • Fridge turns on with pump switch (Switch is not issue)
      • Swapped the connectors on back of panel:
      • View attachment 885036
      • Result: Everything will work (Water pump included)
This leads me to believe that the black wire coming out of the fuse panel is causing an issue as it is the 4th pin in the above picture and the 4th pin is missing in the swapped location. Not sure where to go from here or what to do to fix the issue.

Would I be ok to just leave them swapped? I assume I would need to put the right fuse in the wrong location (example: Fridge fuse may now be exterior light fuse, etc.)

Is it possible that the fuse panel can be replaced? No luck finding one online.
I had an issue with one of the 12v rocker switches just below the water tank guages. the ground pin inside one of the switches was not making solid contact. caused the whole 12v board to go down. A real head scratcher. Except awning and steps still worked. Took a long time and patience to pull switches apart and find that poor contact point. replaced switch, back to normal. you can find those on amazon. like into that as well.

This is how my problems started. I have gone down the rabbit hole to think it is the actual fuse panel in the unit.

Does yours look like this? View attachment 886278
Mine did the same things, then eventually, the lights inside stopped working, then, the toilet, now the water pump.. I have tested all of them from the switch, to hooking up directly to a battery that I know is good and all appliances work. So I am stumped and waiting for any help ROA may provide as this is where I got mine. However, trying to find help on these units outside of that has been impossible for

Pull all the 12v rocker switches. tear them down. Be careful of the springs inside- don’t loose them. i found the ground pin on two had ‘pushed in’ and were only making partial contact. replaced switch- solved my odd power outages.

Heater help needed:

I have a 2022 D15. I can't understand how these off grid back woods campers can't run a propane fired heater without shore power or generator. I'm not sure if the hot water will work either. It took me a few hours researching to get the heater and hot water to work due to basically no manual. Finally found a youtube showing how to run the controller. I have 3 new Lithium 165ah batteries.

Sorry you’re having trouble…I know how frustrating it can be. This past camping trip I wasn’t getting any flame on the kitchen burner or at the water heater/furnace. I tried everything, even switching out propane bottles. My wife said “maybe there is a switch somewhere”, to which I responded in a not so nice of a way.
Turns out…there is an on/off switch on the actual heater itself that I had accidentally turned off while working on something else under the bed.

Yep, I got mine on. I can get full function from heater and hot water on shore power thanks to the video I finally found. I recently upgraded my batteries to 3 165ah lithium. I thought I could run it on that but Im thinking the mfg ran heater connection same as AC direct to shore power. Hopefully, someone can chime in on a solution or any info that might help to resolve problem.

Yes, should definitely work on 12v battery power only. The A/C and 120v outlets are the only things that should be powered by the 120v side of the inverter.
Positive wire of the heater should go directly to the fused red main power switch and the negative wire goes through a breaker and then to a negative battery terminal(s), according to the wiring diagram.
